Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!
****************
Another week has gone and it has been very busy. I spent Tuesday and Wednesday finishing off my kitchen. It involved emptying my old food cupboard and moving the stuff out of the kitchen, scrubbing it and the floor under it to get it super clean, moving the cupboard back, moving all the stuff back into the kitchen, then organising the contents. It sounds like a one day job for most people but my back gives up after a set period of time so I did it over two days. I still have to get my spice rack up and rearrange the cupboard with all the plates and gadgets in it but that can be done later. I'm pleased to get it done but I'm tired and sore and not feeling much like reading, which is annoying! I'm a bit behind on my blogging too but I'll catch up on that over the weekend.

As I said my reading suffered this week. I need to try and pick it up tonight. I wasn't online so not a lot of buys to add this week. I've been doing well with reducing the TBR as I've been culling books from the e-reader. I'm happy with that.

I'm not going through season 8 of Masterchef US and enjoying it a lot. I still have lots of food shows like Top Chef and Hells Kitchen to enjoy, and the latest Masterchef Australia series!

This week I read the first two Sabina Kane books and one of the short stories in the series, followed by The Devil's Fingers. I've started the first Quinsey Wolfe book and have my next two reads planned.

  1. Sounds like that kitchen is in tip-top shape. It's good that you're pacing yourself so you don't pay for it later. Bet it feels good to have that under your belt. I still love the Extinction books!

    1. My kitchen is too small really but as I don't have the money to move I decided I need to make the best of it! A few minor touches to come but I'm pretty happy with how things are!

  3. All that organizing sounds exhausting! Those kinds of projects are always so rewarding but I always hit a halfway point where I just don't see how I'm ever going finish. My reading is a bit off too and mostly due to being over tired. Hope you're able to get some rest and get back on schedule!

    1. Someone totally fit could do these jobs in a short period time but my dad and I are a lot slower in getting stuff done! We're both really tired right now but we don't know why!

  4. I really need to take a day off and do some organizing like you did. There are quite a few scary places I need to tackle. It's so gratifying sitting back and admiring your work though.

    1. I wish I had some house elves to do it all for me! It will be worth it in the end but it feels a long way away!

  6. Sounds like your February has been pretty hectic so far, I can see how reading would have taken a back seat. Hope you have a great weekend though :)

  7. Cleaning the kitchen sounds like a big project. I love food and hate shopping, so my cupboards are always pretty empty.

    1. It's a relief to get one room done that was on my list. I wish I could get on and do things quicker! I'm hoping to get everything done by summer but it might be wishful thinking!

  9. I'm sure you're happy now that the kitchen is actually done, right? It's so nice to organise things and feel good about that work - even if it's hard work!
I hope you'll be able to read this weekend.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

    1. It's one big thing off the list for sure! It is good when you see the results of that work even if there was pain to get there!

  11. I keep trying to find the best way to organize my kitchen. I just don't have enough cabinet space for all of my things.

    1. That was the issue I was having-small kitchen and not a lot of space. My dad was using the big cupboard for storage of his stuff so we emptied that to give me four extra shelves for food storage, which was a relief!
