ZOMBIES!
You can never have too many in your life unless they are chasing you
for your brains of course...Anyway, here is my updated list of great
zombie books I've read and series that I've started.
1) Jamie McGuire-Red Hill (Red Hill #1)
As
the zombie outbreak hits the US, Scarlet leaves the hospital to collect
her daughters who are with her ex husband in another town and take them
to the house that she cleans part time for Dr Hayes at Red Hill. Joey
has taken his dying girlfriend Dana to hospital, hoping that there might
yet be a chance for her. Nathan is trying to rescue his autistic
daughter Zoe just as his wife decides to leave him. Miranda, Ashley and
their boyfriends flee to their father's home at Red Hill. Their paths
will take them through the same towns, dangerous people and swarms of
deadly zombies as they try to reach safety. Who will survive the
journey?
2) Ben S Reeder-Exodus (Zompoc Survivor #1)
When
Dave receives an alert message from an old military friend warning him
to get out of the city, he takes it seriously. Escaping the building is
the first challenge and the gathering zombies are the second challenge.
Now Dave has to link up with his friends and get them all out of the
city to his ranch which is quickly being overrun by zombies, psychos and
the military who are suddenly looking for Nate's family...
3) Nicholas Ryan-Ground Zero
A
zombie outbreak begins in Baltimore when a terrorist unleashes a deadly
virus in himself, and it swiftly spreads to the streets. The CDC loses
control and the virus starts to sweep the country. Jack Cutter is one of
the many running for his life and he is helped to sanctuary in a book
store secure basement. But with food, water and electricity about to run
out, should they stay and hope for rescue or try to find a way past the
zombies and out of the city?
4) Eric A Shelman-Dead Hunger (Dead Hunger #1)
An epidemic that
transforms humans into zombie-like creatures has swept over the eastern
United States and quite possibly the world, and Flex Sheridan doesn't
like it one bit. In an effort to save his younger sister, Flex
re-connects with perhaps the strongest woman he knows - Gem Cardoza, his
former girlfriend. Together they take his six-year-old niece Trina, the
only uninfected survivor of his sister's family, and his infected
sister Jamie, and make a run from central Florida back to his isolated
home in Lula, Georgia.
5) Joseph Talluto-White Flag of the Dead (WFOTD #1)
John
Talon has lost his wife to the virus and after a tearful goodbye, he
decides to try and take their baby son Jake away from home by bike to
seek somewhere safer. His brother Mike is alive but trapped inside his
own house and wants to follow John's example and flee if he can. Despite
seeing the worst of human behaviour during a supply run, John joins up
with two men also trying to escape-Tommy and Duncan-for safety in
numbers. A zombie attack leaves them stranded at a gas station and when
they escape, civilians from the nearby houses join them in a run for a
school and the chance to survive as a community.
6) John Shirley-Doom
A
group of scientists in a research facility on Mars are being hunted by
an evil horror from the planet itself. They are able to send a distress
signal to Earth and a team of highly trained combat soldiers are sent to
Mars to find the missing scientists and end the threat. However, none
of them are prepared for what they will find...This novel is based on
the film Doom.
7) Nicholas Sansbury Smith-Extinction Horizon (Extinction Cycle #1)
Delta
Force Team Ghost are being sent to a facility in California where
contact has been lost with scientists who were working on a cure for a
new Ebola outbreak. To make matters worse, the team are told of a
supersoldier vaccine experiment VX99 that took place in Vietnam and went
wrong, and it may be linked to this facility going dark. Beckham's
orders are to breach the facility, rescue anyone alive and find the cure
if one exists but what they find in the dark is from their worst
nightmares...
8) Saul Tanpepper-Gameland omnibus
Jess
and her friends can't afford the top of the line entertainment system
that rich people have so things like Gameland are out of their reach.
They continue to try and hack their way in without success but then one
of them comes up with the idea of going on a day trip out to Long
Island, evacuated when the zombies came and is now quarantined, where
the Gameland game zone is situated. The thought of catching a glimpse of
the infected for real and maybe being able to hack into the system when
nearer to the game zone outweights the dangers involved in going. To
get there they must get through checkpoints then sneak into the flooded
tunnels that lead to Long Island. They have no idea what to expect when
they get there.
9) JW Vohs-Zombie Crusade (Zombie Crusade #1)
Jack
and Carter meet in Afghanistan and witness a zombie outbreak which is
barely contained. When returning to the US, both men begin work on a
fortress capable of housing their loved ones with supplies to survive
should the virus escape and come to their land. And then comes the day
when the news reports a new pandemic outbreak in Afghanistan...
10) Linda Zimmermann-Hudson Valley Zombie Apocalypse (HVZA #1)
The
zombie apocalypsestarted in 2011 with a tsunami causing a nuclear
disaster at Fukushima power plant in Japan. People who ate the
contaminated seafood became the aggressive zombie like creatures and
within a year, the first US outbreak occurs in New York. Becks is a
nurse training to be a doctor and does work experience in a private
medical lab who are now working feverishly on a vaccine to stop newly
infected people turning. As the world changes around them, Becks has to
