Stacking the Shelves #47

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Please note that I always leave a message on your STS/SP if you visit me, but if you use DISQUS I will not be able to leave a comment on your page. And sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress.

This has been a week of very little reading done and lots of sitting around watching TV shows and films! I did find the time to receive a couple of Amazon packages which is always nice. I need to stop my book splurges until I get at least another 15-20 books read or abandoned to give me some shelf space in my room. All the books this week are bought paperbacks as I haven't had time to search for online freebies.

  1. These look like fun! Like the cover of My Sisters Reaper. What are your DISQUS problems? Can I help?!

    1. Oh the DISQUS thing...to leave a comment on a blog that uses this, you need to give your email etc to them or if for example you sign in using Twitter this is what they say:

Authorise DISQUS to use your account? This application will be able to:
      Read Tweets from your timeline.
See who you follow, and follow new people.
      Update your profile.
      Post Tweets for you.

'Use' my account??? There is no way I'm allowing third parties access to my email, google or twitter accounts to start messing around and changing things!!! That's why I avoid this DISQUS thing.

Thanks for the help offer though!

    1. It certainly gets your attention doesn't it? I go by names and covers when I'm scanning possible purchases and if both are good, I'll check out the blurb for a final decision. Crappy names and covers are less appealing.

  4. I don't like DISQUS because of what you said. It's annoying an a invasion of my privacy. Great stack. I enjoyed the Dorothy Dreyer book so much. Enjoy your new books.

    1. Totally agree Grace. The only person who gets to use my account is me! I really like the look of My Sister's Reaper-it sounds a bit different from most of the books on my shelf.

  5. Free Agent and My Sister's Reaper look awesome, Chuckle. I get you about the TV shows being so distracting. If I'm feeling slightly burned out from all the reading and blogging, I just stop and endlessly watch TV shows. My, they can really get addictive.

I don't know if I told you this but I am already staying away from Kindle deals and other freebies because if I start clicking, I can no longer stop. I still have a lot of free Amazon books that remained unread until now. T_T

Lovely haul, Chuckle. I hope you will have a lot of fun reading this!

    1. Part of my problem is that I spend all day online so I only have about 4-5 hours at night to watch TV and films, and read. I really need to get more time to get things done!

I totally get why you're staying away from Kindle deals. I have about 120-150 books on my ereaders and about 650 physical books at home-all unread. I have GOT to deal with these and limit my book buying but I have no self control!

    1. Wicked Hunger is the only one I've actually read. I got it as a read and review book from the author who is lovely! I decided to buy it in paperback for my own collection and I'm waiting for book two to arrive from amazon. I hope I like the others, they certainly look good!

  9. We really need a universal commenting system that works, even blogger tends to eat replies lately. Is Discuss the Wordpress platform? I think I ended up created a Wordpress out to comment on Wordpress hosted blogs, it just made it easier. I refuse to allow these third parties access to my social media, it really has nothing to do with one or the other.

My Sister's Reaper looks pretty good. I love dark magic and fantasy fusion books that are out of the norm. Great haul this week and thanks for sharing <3

    1. I don't know if DISQUS is connected to Wordpress-I know very little technical stuff! I tried to set up my blog on Wordpress but it wasn't working so I switched back to blogger but Wordpress won't let me delete my account and blog and they try to stop me commenting on blogs using my email address as they claim that email is linked to the blog on their site, not my blogger account. It is frustrating to keep getting them interfering with my blogger activities. I wish I could delete the Wordpress connection as I regret ever getting involved with them!

  10. I know what it's like buying books and never getting the chance to read them when they keep piling up. I'm always having this problem, but now my debit card is not working so I haven't been able to buy books. I'm not sure if this is a great thing or an awful one.
    Great haul!

    1. I think it's an awful one! Not having access to some retail therapy is a disaster! *shudder* I blame the authors for our unrestrained buying. If they didn't write so many great sounding books, we wouldn't have to spend so much...Thanks for visiting!

  11. I haven't heard of any of these, but Free Agent and Justice Calling look interesting. Yes I totally judge books by their covers, haha. I hope you love all of these!
