Top Ten Tuesday-Books Written Before I Was Born

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.  http://www.thatartsyreadergirl.com/top-ten-tuesday/

NB: I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow them to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account.

This week it is books written before I was born. I'm going to go with popular books I've read and enjoyed. Incorrect publishing dates can be blamed on Google!

1) JRR Tolkien-The Lord Of The Rings (1954/55)
My dad read me The Hobbit and LOTR as bedtime stories and I loved it!

2) Michael Crichton-The Andromeda Strain (1969)
Equally enjoyed the film version which I watch all the time.

3) Mario Puzo-The Godfather (1969)
I loved the book and it's one of my favourite ever films.

4) Roald Dahl-Fantastic Mr Fox (1970)
This is the reason I feed our local foxes sometimes!

5) Enid Blyton-Five Get Into Trouble (1949)
This was my favourite in the series.

6) Patricia Highsmith-Ripley Under Ground (1970)
Was it wrong to be rooting for Ripley in this book?

7) CS Lewis-The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe (1950)
I cried every time they murdered poor Aslan!

8) Stan Berenstain-Bears In The Night (1971)
My favourite childhood book!

9) Walter Farley-The Black Stallion's Courage (1956)
My favourite horse related series. This was my favourite book in the series...I think!

10) John Hersey-Hiroshima (1946)
My unhealthy childhood obsession with nuclear war led me to this sobering book.

  1. I not long listened to a podcast where they discussed the phenomena where people believe the Berenstain Bears where Berenstein! It’s fascinating!
