The Best Zombie Books #3


ZOMBIES! You can never have too many in your life unless they are chasing you for your brains of course...Anyway, here is my updated list of great zombie books I've read and series that I've started. 

 1) Eli Constant/BV Barr-Awakening (Z Children #1)
All over America, children aged between four and six have been going to get their regular vaccines at hospitals and doctor clinics. Now they are returning to their medical examiners with strange flu like systems that are concerning their parents. Without warning, the kids suddenly turn aggressive and show a zombie like mentality, biting and killing adults. The adults are infected and turn into slow shambling wrecks who sadly retain a small sense of what has happened to them and who act as guards and lookouts for their fast young beasts who can move at frightening speed to bring down new victims. Those who have survived the start of this zombie apocalypse now need to find safety and escape the little monsters who are everywhere.
2) Robert Brown-The Last Blade Of Grass (TLBOG #2)
Eddie and Simone are preppers with a survival store in town and a ranch to move to nearby if things get bad where he previously has run free survival classes to teach others from miles around the skills they need. Now he gets word of a zombie plague being caused by faulty injections given to military personnel at their bases and it is spreading out of control. It's time to tell friends and family to pack everything and get to the safety of his ranch before the zombies start showing up in town.
 
3) Wren Cavanagh-The Last Flag
50 blocks of gaming area, 50 square miles, 2 days, over 500 undead, 3 flags and a life changing sum of money if you survive and win. This is the new game show by Fats Whitford and his team. They have emptied a town of human life, and built fences to contain the zombies. They have hidden various flags around the town and each team must seek out three flags each worth $500 000 before going to the highest building and grabbing the last flag, which then guarantees victory, a massive payout and a helicopter rescue. Lose and you will forfeit your flags to the winners, enjoy a hike out to the fences for rescue or get eaten.

4) Eric S Brown-Crypto Squad
Zombies have been raised from the dead by a mad snake worshipping cult and are threatening to destroy America. Only the Crypto Squad can save the day! Human leader Marcus, sea monster Agent Ness and Jimi the psychic Mothman lead angry Sasquatches, El Chupacabra, Mongolian Death Worms, The Jersey Devil and flesh eating locusts into battle.
 
5) Ann Christy-The In-Betweener (Between Life And Death #1)
Two years ago a new medical nanite advance divided humanity into three types: humans, deaders and the frightening in-betweeners who crave human flesh. Emily's world has grown quiet and ordered, her day bounded by mornings killing deaders at her fence and nights alone in a warehouse office. She's begun to believe life will always be this way, days alone with the dead or fighting in-betweeners for her life. But even that life is better than the alternative. Everything changes when one of the deaders at the gate isn't a deader at all. He’s an in-betweener different from any Emily has seen before...and he has a message. 
 
6) Shawn Chesser-Trudge (Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse #1)
Cade isn't paying much attention to outbreak reports in the media until his neighbours Ted and Lisa are trying to eat him. He arranges to meet his family at a military base and starts on his journey, meeting up with other survivors fleeing the area, while his family get out on their own dangerous road trip. But the dead are going to be the least of their problems.
 
7) Caleb Cleek-The Fall (Infected #1)
When a bus full of tourists, infected with a genetically engineered virus, stops in a quiet community for lunch, the area threatens to become the epicenter for a worldwide outbreak. Two Vista County deputies race to contain the revived dead, stop the spread, and combat the chaos and anarchy that ensues.
 
8) Rosemary Cole-The X Variant (The Guardians #1)

9) Joseph Coley-Response (Six Feet From Hell #1)
A massive mining explosion across several states releases a toxin into the air that kills the people exposed to it and EMT's like Joe and his colleagues are called to the disaster scene to help treat and then ferry the bodies. The task turns deadly when the dead bodies start coming back to life as zombies and attack the living. With things getting out of control, Joe and his friends have no option but to abandon their stations and find a way back to their families. Joe has a 30 mile journey that winds over a mountain route, and he fears for what he might find if he ever gets home. 
 
10) Joseph D'Lacey-The Kill Crew
All electrical components are destroyed. A strange green glow is in the air. Office workers are turned into strange mute creatures that wander the streets. The survivors have built a fortress like structure in the city to defend themselves from the creatures called The Commuters that patrol the night, crying, waiting to grab the unsuspecting. Each night a Kill Crew are sent out to thin out their numbers and keep the survivors safe, a job not everyone has the stomach for. You can volunteer for the Kill Crew as often as you want though only seven of the volunteers are sent out each night. Once a week, a lottery of all non volunteers is done to keep things fair. If you fail on Kill Crew, you are dragged away by the creatures and somehow turned into one of them.
