Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

It's been another mostly cold and wet week here which is the perfect weather for staying inside in the warmth to do blog posts, a bit of reading and watch some favourite films and quality TV. Winter is usually when I try to get caught up on all my favourite reality TV series like all the Masterchef versions, Bake Off, American Ninja Warrior, Deadliest Catch etc, so I'm getting all that stuff ready to watch.A good TV winter awaits!

I'm reading through a pile of Behind the Scenes books for Coronation Street which is slow but fascinating reading. I reached my Goodreads target of 150 but don't be fooled-there were a lot of kids books in the challenge. Still, it's better than nothing. Reading has been a real issue this year and I'm glad to be doing some even if it is slow going. I'm about to splurge on another Corrie book and a few big volumes of Harry Potter Behind the Scenes stuff too which will do nothing to help my poor TBR! But I WANT them so I don't care! *stamps foot*

I'm also totally finished with my winter prepping supplies so I'm ready in case of a full lockdown over the winter. I generally hibernate over November to January and don't go out anyway so I'm not greatly worried about lockdowns personally. I blame it on my Bear DNA...Oh and I treated myself to a couple of fun Harry Potter gifts, just for fun-a water bottle (above) and a set of sugar free drinks that swirl and glitter like real potions! Chuckles Blogging World
I'm going into this weekend totally caught up on blog comments and I hope to finish my blog visits today for a change! I want to spend tomorrow and Sunday writing out or finishing a few blog posts for the rest of the month, all horror related.

Films & TV & Music
At night I've been watching the Blu-Ray DVD extras for the Harry Potter films. Lots of cool behind the scenes stuff. I've also watched this season of American Ninja Warrior. Pity about the shortened format but at least we did get a competition this year, which is better than it being cancelled, which I was expecting.

The Week Ahead
I have a bit of work to do around the house this week which I'm not greatly looking forward to. I hope to get a bit of TV looked at and some reading.

  1. Congrats on reading 150 books! I count children’s books in my Goodreads goal too. They’re books; they should count! I hope you have a good week!

    1. I've never read as many kids books in a year! So many Paddington and Enid Blyton! I did enjoy them though so that's the main thing.

    1. Fully prepared to hibernate for sure! The last of my Amazon packages are coming in as we speak-my winter chocolate and nut supply!

  3. Well done on hitting the GR goal! I had mine set to 156 books but I dont think I'll be hitting that this year. I wish I was more bothered by missing my goal but I'm not. This year is what it is and my reading has been all over the place so...

I love the HP stuff! We were at the Studio Tour yesterday and it was awesome! I could have spent a mortgage payment in the gift store. (But I managed to refrain!)

    1. This year we've been all over the place with our reading with all the stress and worry about pandemics, family and jobs and things. The worry is, will this reading disruption continue into next year? I hope I can get back to normal.

I could spend a fortune in that gift shop for sure!!! All those Harry Potter sweet things!!! We hope to maybe get on a bus trip down there after the virus chaos ends...if it ever does!

  4. Good job on 150 books! I'm getting there but have a few more to go. Love the potion drinks! I think I need some! It's getting cooler here but I have a feeling cold weather in Memphis, TN is a bit different then cold weather in Scotland!

    1. I'm pleased to have got any reading done at all with all the chaos going on this year. The potion things were pretty good tasting for being sugar free. I'm keeping the empty bottles as part of my HP collection! Our winter average temperature is about 5 degrees C. Cold days down to zero to about minus five I guess.
