Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!
Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

Another week gone and we have arrived at my favourite seasons of autumn and winter! It is cooler outside, a nice warm fire on the go, hot chocolate every morning to help me wake up, soup at lunchtime, hot meal at night and crisps and dip while I read or watch TV! Tonight for dinner it is creamy mashed potatoes with salmon in a cheese sauce-YUM! Anyway, back to business! I haven't done well recently with getting books finished. I think I'm stuck in a big steaming pile of indecision-do I stick with my autumn reading list or do I try to work through the big pile of books I own that have mixed reviews on Goodreads and get them read or DNFed to get my TBR down as much as I can by the end of the year. I still can't decide so I'm in a sort of limbo while I think about it!

Did a bit better this week and took a chunk out of the remaining book reviews I need to write which cheered me up nicely. I'll be catching up on comments, blog visits and doing more post writing this week.

In the morning I'm watching My Kitchen Rules New Zealand and South Africa on Sky Two. I've been watching the afternoon re-runs of Deadliest Catch, Bering Sea Gold and Outback Truckers, all of which I enjoy. At night this week I've been catching up with seasons 8, 9 and 10 of Bering Sea Gold. As much as I like Vern, Shaun, Zeke and Emily, I'm sick of the Kelly's and considering dumping the show from my viewing schedule. And darn, I forgot to do my film reviews of Ready Player One and The Maze Runner yet AGAIN. Maybe I can remember to do it this week...

I still can't seem to decide what I'm doing with my reading and it is annoying! It'll either be three horror books from my Autumn Reading List or three random off the shelf reads, probably thrillers. Gah I hate my indecision. This is what I'm finishing up.

I like the idea of getting rid of books based on others reviews, that way you don't have to waste time or enjoyment dnf'ing them. I know you mentioned that you want to enjoy the books you read (and THAT should be the goal of every reader) and that solution just seems like it would fit your need to reduce your tbr without requiring you to be miserable.
ReplyDeleteIt will still take work though. Seems like nothing we do, even for fun, doesn't have some sort of effort involved.

I'm looking at reviews and deleting those with too much relationship angst, love triangles, types of characters I hate, very slow books etc. It helped me delete ten this week alone which was good and stops me adding some to wishlist! It does help for sure. I'm going to mood read this month and stick to the horror, thriller apocalypse reads even if I adjust my reading list because of it. That should let me clear some and enjoy some!
DeleteAutumn and winter are my favorite seasons too! I love cold weather, hot food, and excuses to stay inside and read. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Hot food, hot drinks, warm duvet, warm fire, books and TV...it doesn't get better than that! You have a good week too AJ!
DeleteI am ready for some sweater weather. Cool is great but I am not a fan of cold. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAs long as I'm indoors I'm happy! I could actually do with a couple of extra warm sweatshirts for the winter but I hate going shopping for clothes!
DeleteI'm loving autumn and the cooler temps too. It's been windy and rainy and perfect hibernating in the house weather. I'm enjoying snuggling up in jumpers with hot chocolate and the return of the hearty meals rather than the lighter summer ones... I miss having a fire though. We went from open fireplace to no fireplace when we moved last year. :(
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying some TV time with my dad-he's becoming hooked on American Ninja Warrior! Doomsday Preppers has got me fretting over all the things I'm lacking so that is a problem! I'd love a log burning fire but the government will probably ban them soon!
