After a decent week, the weekend has retreated back into the world of stress. I ordered three dvds from Amazon-seasons 1-3 of SAS Who Dares Wins, a reality show where ordinary people are put through some of the SAS selection process to see if any are tough enough. I love it and decided to treat myself. It was due to come yesterday by Hermes in one delivery but it was to be two packages so I was surprised to see one package and figured all three were inside. Wrong. Seasons 1 & 3 were there but 2 wasn't, which was interesting when 2 & 3 were supposed to be in the same package and 1 in the smaller package. Beside each dvd on Amazon's page is said delivered.
First I tried to send an email but it seems to be impossible to find an email contact address on Amazon. The only options it gave were instant chat or they would phone me. The last phone call I had with a call centre resulted in me getting pissed because the person was barely able to speak or understand English so there was no way I wanted to do that. I made the mistake of turning to Amazon Help on Twitter and this was the conversation at the second attempt.
ME: What is the UK customer services email address?
THEM: Thanks for reaching out to us! You can reach out to us here: amzn.to/UKContactUS. Reach back out to us if you need further assistance. We'll be here.
ME: And thanks for NOT answering my question.
THEM: The contact methods can be found using the link provided. (the link takes me back to the original contact page that has no email option)
Waste. Of. Time. If there is no email address you can provide, can't you say sorry and say WHY instead of sending me round in bloody circles??? I was then forced to use that instant chat thing and my stress levels hit the roof. After explaining the issue with the missing DVD, this is pretty much what happened:
THEM: Have you received your package?
ME: Yes but something is missing.
THEM: According to our records the package has been delivered.
ME: One of the three DVDs inside is missing.
THEM: Did the package fail to arrive?
ME: NO but one DVD is missing from it!
THEM: If the package has not arrived please wait to see if the courier has still to deliver. Please also check your safe place to see if it has been left there.
ME: The PACKAGE arrived but a DVD is missing from inside it!
THEM: Do you wish to return an item?
ME: NO! An item has not been delivered!
THEM: If you wish to return an item (link provided)
ME: One of the three DVDs has not been delivered!
THEM: Do you have a further question?
ME: YES!
I was passed on to another instant chat thing and she obviously had a clue and solved it in four quick questions and has ordered a replacement DVD to arrive this week. My head was pounding and I was stressed and irritated with wasting nearly two hours on this issue. Several things on the news nearly made me blow my top!
Then just before I was going to my bed, my dad and I were talking and I heard a loud scratching noise from behind a couple of boxes my dad has dvds for selling inside. It was strange, like when we had the mouse issue, so I started pulling boxes apart and peering around with a torch but found nothing. Ten minutes later the scratching began again and then a big hairy spider ran across the boxes about a foot away from me, scaring me crapless! I totally freaked out and ran and my dad had to chase it. I felt sick with nerves all night and didn't sleep so I feel dreadful and jittery today.
And here is the weird thing. I've never heard a spider make a scratching sound like that, and when it ran, it ran silently over the box as you would expect. So what was that bloody scratching noise??? We have no signs or smells of mice anywhere in the house, I reckon we'd have noticed a rat before now(!), we're not prone to cockroaches here...so what was that noise and what made it? If I hadn't heard the noise I'd never have looked and the hairy git would still be roaming the house. It's weird and I'm obsessing over it.
A weekend to forget all in all and I REALLY need a stress free week ahead!!!

Oh dang. Trying to get any help from any customer service is hard. I had to call several times for something I ordered online and I could barely understand the people I was talking to.
ReplyDeleteI dread having to deal with customer services as they are all overseas call centres. There have been some really good people at times but other times the person can't seem to speak or understand English which is so frustrating!
DeleteOoh...I hate spiders. And unexplained scratching noises. And dealing with Amazon when an order goes wrong. What a crappy weekend for you! Here's hoping this week goes better. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was a really stressful weekend for sure! Today is going to be a day of watching TV with my dad and season 4 of American Ninja Warrior!
DeleteI hate it anytime I have to call a call center now. It's like worse than going to the dentist lol. And that chat thing- oh my gosh! Clueless!!! although I'm glad the second chatter got it straight. :)
ReplyDeleteOkay that would freak me out too. First of all, I HATE spiders. Second of all, that noise does sound... like it wouldn't have been made by a spider? I mean spiders don't usually make noises right? Maybe you got a mouse hiding somewhere too? Either way, I hope all goes well and you don't have any more critter issues. I'd put a rat or mouse trap out and see what happens?
My visits to the dentist are less painful than dealing with customer services for sure! That chat thing had my blood pressure going-I could hear it in my ears! That noise has us baffled. We've searched the room for traces of mice and found nothing. I feel that whatever made the noise was maybe hunting the spider but I'm worried not to know what it was!
DeleteI'm so sorry that you had suck a pain dealing with Amazon. Unfortunately, good customer service is becoming a problem everywhere. And that's really weird about the noise and the spider. My fear would be that the scratching noise made the spider run. I hope you get everything sorted out and am glad your new DVD is on the way!
ReplyDeleteI'm not scared of mice so if it is one, we catch and release them-I just want to know what the scratching was! We've found no trace of mice at which is just baffling and spiders don't make noise like that!
Deletei watched a documentary on tv about robots and computers taking over so many jobs and customer service is just one of them. now we have bartenders, pizza orders....makes me wonder what work will be left for people...and i don't think the businesses really care about customer service any more...i mean, what ya gonna do about it? AND spiders...
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
You're right, pretty soon machines will be taking over everything and jobs will be lost. I hope governments are planning to compensate all these poor workers...I agree that businesses don't care about good customer service anymore.
DeleteOh no, that spider! Eek!
ReplyDeleteMy expression when I saw it was the same as the monkey above!!!
DeleteWow. To have to jump through so many hoops to finally reach someone who is helpful if nuts! I'm glad you got that straightened out finally. And that spider would have me running too!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny looking back at it now but I was going a bit mad with it at the time! The DVD did arrive safe yesterday thankfully! WHY can't spiders look like butterflies??? And I'm sooo glad they can't fly!!!
DeleteAmazon REALLY doesn't want you to contact them!
ReplyDeleteI had to do that live chat for something they said was returned to them but that they would resend but didn't and it was like talking in circles with them.
Karen @ For What It's Worth
Amazon are a bit of a nightmare right now but it's the only place I can get most things I need so I can't threaten to take my custom elsewhere, y'know?
DeleteI hate it when I have to call customer service for help. I have to do it at work sometimes and it just sucks. Sorry about that spider as well!
ReplyDeleteI'd have got more sense out of talking to the darn spider I think!!! What a weekend that was!
