Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!
Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

It has been another busy week here at the Book Cave so not a lot of time for fun on the computer! I spent the whole of Monday digesting the new episode of Game of Thrones and discussing it with my dad. Tuesday was all about getting the monthly shopping in-ugh I really don't enjoy it at all. Wednesday I was out in the mega heat getting the gate in the back garden varnished and rearranging the stones on our path to cover the bare patches. I couldn't find a rake so I had to do it with our wonky garden spade and it was a nightmare! My dad was out killing the weeds and he was just as tired. Yesterday was my regular check up at the doctor and everything was fine and a bit of work indoors as well. Today I'm resting! Well, after I take out the bins and get the next load of washing done!
I've mostly been slothing around to be honest. I've done a bit of reading for two of my challenges so that is a start and got 4 bags of books off to the charity shop. The other 4 can go next week. It feels good to actually get rid of the books I no longer want and hopefully someone else will buy them so the books get a new reader and the charity shop gets the money for it. I've been watching seasons one and two of Game of Thrones again and it's fun to watch some of the side characters this time as some of what they say and do becomes relevant in later seasons. The Blu Ray extras are lots of fun too! It is actually the only thing I own on Blu Ray as I just got a cheap player a couple of months ago!
On the book side of things I haven't bought any but here are three I previously bought but forgot to add to my TBR.

Not a lot of blogging this week as I wasn't able to get on the computer much. I'm trying to take advantage of the spell of good weather to get things done outside, before it rains again! I didn't get any reviews done this week and next week might be a bit crazy as well but I'll see what I can fit in when time allows!

I watched season 3 of Ultimate Beastmaster which was fun and I rewatched season one of Game of Thrones and started season two. Fun! And almost everyone is still alive!

From last week's selections I read two of them. I hated almost every character in The Defiant so that was an easy DNF and I finished 900 miles. It was a well written zombie book but the two MCs seem to hate fat people, rich people, bald people and constantly give bitchy nicknames and look down on everyone they meet which is really annoying. I won't be reading book two. I also read Bosworth and I'm reading another Tudor book at the moment which I'll finish today.
Sounds like you need a break this weekend. I am so anxious for Sunday's show. So I've not seen Santa Took Them. I'm always looking for Christmas horror to read in December so I'm definitely going to grab that one. Hope you and Dad get to do some relaxing this weekend. I also think it's great you're donating some books. I have decided to thin some of my shelves but I'll be donating the books to the prison where my husband works. They are always wanting stuff for their library.
ReplyDeleteI donate all my non fiction to the men's club that my uncle goes to as they have a small library and the men seem to like the sport, politics, history books. The rest go to charity shops. Hopefully they'll sell a few of them! The prisoners will certainly get the use out of your donations. I thought you might be interested in the Santa one!

ReplyDeleteI can't believe it is the last ever episode this weekend! I agree with GRRM that there should've been more seasons! Ten is a good round number...There should at least have been ten episodes in the last two seasons.
DeleteI’m scheduled to work during the final GoT! I’m not amused. I’m hoping everyone stays home to watch GoT instead of causing chaos at the park where I work.

ReplyDeleteI'm still a whole season behind (well, practically 2 seasons now) on GoT so I'm hoping I'll have forgotten any spoilers I inadvertently see by the time we get to borrow boxsets. Instead we're rewatching The Bridge which is still brilliant and have one episode left of Top Of The Lake: China Girl. Love Nicole Kidman's character
I do all my painting and blogging during the day so nights are for relaxing, either with a book, a TV show, a film or dvd box set!

DeleteI have Henry VIII's Last Love on my giant bookcase, somewhere. Hope you enjoy Lipscomb's book. The art was almost better than the text, it is breathtaking.
