Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!
****************
It has been a busy week in the land of Chuckles! yesterday I braved a biting cold wind and got outside for three and a half hours to get the second coat of the raspberry paint on to the fence. I'm hoping that the two coats will do and that means my painting work out in the front garden is over. My dad will be painting the driveway gate in his own time and we just have to get in the new slate to decorate the side of the path and get rid of some weeds. I'm thinking we might focus on that and get the front finished before starting out back.

I cleared out my books, the physical ones, this week and there are eight bags going to the charity shop as we speak. I'm trying to empty a few shelves so I'm reading apocalypse and zombie paperbacks that have mixed reviews in the hopes of some DNFs as well as completed reads. The TBR is coming down nicely and I'm well on schedule for the year. I got some reading done and I'm continuing with my re-watch of Game of Thrones season one. It's scary how young everyone looks! I'll be watching a bit more of that tonight and getting some reading done hopefully. And with it being the weekend, my stomach is in knots as my beloved football team fight to get out of the relegation playoff AND I have the next episode of Game of Thrones to start worrying about. Sunday Is Coming!

Chuckles Blogging World
In the coming weeks I hope to get started on books with mixed reviews to continue my shelf clearing and maybe fit in books for my alphabet and Royal challenges. I only have 6 letters to complete the first challenge so I want that done by the end of this month.

Book Reviews
I'm continuing to make steady progress with my review backlog and I'm pretty happy that it isn't going to get out of control like that again!

I watched Ultimate Beastmaster season two and rewatched part of Game of Thrones season one. I caught up with the news of the Royal baby and my dad was in front of the football and racing as usual, yelling at players, officials and horses!

Currently Reading/Up Next
I read Darkness Begins and Anarchy Rising as planned but didn't love either of them and won't continue with the series. I also read Breaking Point, Flirting With Death and for a change of pace, Victoria and Abdul which was interesting. A good reading week and I plan to continue with more paperback books needing attention.

  1. Only six letters off your Alphabet challenge? I need to get a move on with mine, but I seem to keep getting Ws at the moment!

    1. I got a lot of doubles for things like R and S! I want to get this one out of the way so I can concentrate on other challenges for the second half of the year!

    1. Hopefully the books will find new owners through the charity shop...give them some Indie authors to read for a change!

  3. So glad you are wrapping up on the fence, I know what a task that was for you. We have been doing some odds and ends around the backyard and I am getting geared up for planting some flowers and spreading mulch. We got Booker T's headstone and his formal place in the garden will soon be looking lovely. Mr. Barb bought new garden lights last week.

Sunday evenings are so stressful now. I STILL want to kick Jaime in the book and the only thing that will make it better for me is if he kills Cersei himself - wishful thinking huh?

    1. I'm glad it's done but my thoughts keep wandering to the two big fences in the backgarden which will be at least two coats of varnish on one and two coats of paint on the other plus the length of book fences is more than the front fences! It sounds like Booker T has a resting place he would love. It sounds lovely Barb. Are you putting up a photo at some point?

    2. Yep, probably toward the end of the month once it is all done.

  9. This week's GoT is going to be insane! I can't believe what happened last week and the direction it's going?! Holy crap!

Glad to hear the fence is pretty much done. I've got weeding to do too and I hates it! lol

    1. I'm not surprised by the Mad Queen story as there were hints there from season one but I had liked Dany until season 7 began! Poor Varys-I loved him!

      Ugh weeding! I hate it!

  13. I'm still shopping for some books with letters from my challenge. Especial X and Q. I'm hoping I can find some in the horror genre that I will be willing to spend my pennies on. LOL I bet it feels nice each time you get more done with the fence and garden. It is already getting hot here and I am behind on my own outside chores. At least I can jump in the pool to cool off:)

    1. I read my Z book so that is crossed off. I have something ready for H, K, L and Y and found one option for X! If I don't DNF it I'll finish the challenge this year! I wish I had a pool to cool off in-a heated one would be nice!

  14. You have 8 bags of books going. WOW, that is some clearing of shelves. I don't blame you and soon I will have to do that. I never have very long off of semesters so I don't get a good break to try to clear up some of my collection. I am glad to hear the fence in front is done!

    1. I've been filling up bags of the unwanted for a few weeks now and it is nice to get some space back at last! The front fences are complete-just the metal driveway gates to be painted now which my dad and I will tackle in the next week or two.
