Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!
Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

Another week has gone by and another dentist appointment has been successfully negotiated. I'm still scared of the drill but I'm slowly getting through all the repairs that need done. It'll still be well into summer before it gets finished but I'm resigned to that and happy to be getting it all done. I can't say I enjoyed that scale and polish thing though. It was worse than the filling yesterday! I figured I'd treat myself for my bravery to a couple of Game of Thrones figures for my collection. Sometimes, treats are required...
The work on the fence has ground to a halt at the moment as my dad decided he wanted to sand the fence before I paint it merry berry. That was two weeks ago and he has only got a quarter of it done so I'm stuck waiting when I want to be painting! The sanding is so time consuming that it feels like one of those never ending jobs. I still intend to get it done by the end of the month though and get it out of my face.
It has been quiet on the book buying side of things so I'll share with you a few I bought a while back but forgot to put onto my Goodreads total. I really need to go through my ereaders and get a list of what hasn't been added to tbr but I'm scared what the total may be! As for me, no real reading done as I'm currently obsessed with Game of Thrones again. I'm doing a skim read of A Game of Thrones and A Clash of Kings looking for details on the prophecies. I really want that done over the weekend plus I started watching season one again last night. Arya and Bran look so young! Is everyone enjoying season eight? I've loved all three episodes and with it being Friday, it's nearly time for episode four, which I'll see first thing Monday morning!

I've had a lot of time on my hands so I didn't take a blog break for much time during the week so not as much to catch up on later today and over the weekend.

I wasn't very productive this week due to obsessing for days over The Battle of Winterfell aka The Long Night. Tonight I need to start looking at a few books that have mixed reviews on Goodreads as they could be potential DNFs or quick reads. The Survivalist was one where I liked the main plot of book one but not the sub plots so I'm giving book two a try to see if I want to read on with the series or not.

I'm terrified of the Dentist, they're not the gentlest :(
ReplyDeleteI'm very lucky-my dentist is very patient with my nerves and explains everything that is going on. My dad has some real horror stories!
DeleteCongrats on your dental progress. You're getting there. I am really glad the Battle for Winterfell episode is over. It was very stressful to watch it. I want to see those action figures! Did you get a dragon? Hope the fence gets done soon.
ReplyDeleteSadly no dragon! I love the statue of Dany and Drogon but it is way too expensive for me at the moment. When I rearrange my shelves I'll have to take a few photos of my collection!
DeleteSome tasks just take FOREVER lol
ReplyDeleteMine is unpacking the room I threw all my boxes into. I' made a small dent this weekend and it's looking more room-ish but I hate even going in there.
Good luck with all the dental work. I had a horrible fear of dentists after a bad one when I was a kid and yes! the cleaning and polishing feels awful.
Karen @ For What It's Worth
Ugh doesn't sound like the unpacking is much fun! I dread to think how I'd do with moving house with all my stuff! The dentist plans to do a section of cleaning each time I'm numb so I have more of that to look forward to!
DeleteI think you deserve a new figurine after enduring all that dentistry too. Good luck with all the work. I hope it goes well and is relatively painless.
ReplyDeleteI sort of trweated myself to five...no restraint from Chuckles this week!
DeleteGlad you survived another round with the dentist. And hopefully you'll get your fence done soon. :)
ReplyDeleteI painted the bit my dad has sanded and the new raspberry looks great! Even the neighbours like it! My dad hopes to sand the rest on Monday and I'll get the rest of the first coat on next week if the weather holds!
DeleteDon't you love the title Sliggers? I wonder if the book is as cool as the title.
ReplyDeleteThe name is really great and that scary face on the cover is quite unsettling! I hope the book lives up to expectations!
DeleteI hate going to the dentist. A few years ago when I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth out the oral surgeon gave me a hairline jaw fracture. That was not fun.
ReplyDeleteOh wow that puts my dentist issues in the shade for sure! That must have been agony Mary! *shudders*
DeleteCongrats on getting through the dentist appointment! I got my wisdom teeth cut out a few years ago, but other than that, the dentist hasn’t done anything too scary to me.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I'll be getting treatment through the summer but gradually I'll get there! I still get a bit nervous though!
DeleteI'm recording GOT as I'm working most of the time when the episodes air. So far I've managed to avoid spoilers. Subhuman was a fun read. I had to have the under the gumline cleaning done on my teeth before and it wasn't fun. Worth it though.
ReplyDeleteOh wow I don't know how you are avoiding all the comments and posts about the episodes! A lot of people seem to hate this series but I'm loving it! Ugh, I don't like the sound of that dentral treatment at all!
DeleteThe dentist is no ones favourite. I often wonder why people choose to become dentists... I mean, you need similar grades to become a vet or a doctor, they seem much more fun than staring into people's mouths all day. *shrugs*
ReplyDeleteI think you need to have a few psycho tendancies to want to be one! I can't imagine why anyone would want to do it either!
DeleteI am so excited about Game of Thrones. I have been looking forward to tonight's episode all week and have spent a lot of time digesting last week's episode. I am glad to hear that your time with the dentist is going well and it sounds like you have a plan to get that fence taken care of. Have a great week, Chuckles!
ReplyDeleteI've been obsessing over this series and my dad and I are discussing it in detail and talking about theories and stuff. It's fun! I'm already getting nervous for episode five...
DeleteCongrats on the dental work. <3 I'm really scared about dental work too, as I've probably mentioned, but a good dentist makes such a difference!
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky to have a good dentist-doesn't stop me getting scared though!
DeleteI can imagine the sanding taking a long time. I am hoping you get it done and are happy with it.
ReplyDeleteMary
Sanding is such a horrible, dirty and time consuming job!
