Books from the Backlog is a fun way to
feature some of those neglected
books sitting on your bookshelf. You might
be surprised by some of the unread books hiding in your stacks. Go to
Carole's blog and add your blog post link in to join in the fun! Hosted
by Carole at https://carolesrandomlife.blogspot.co.uk/
This seems
like a fun feature and I have been planning to take part since Carole
launched this so at last, here we go! I have a TON of unread books to
choose from in various genres and I'm looking forward to sharing some of
them with everybody.

America faces a full-scale socioeconomic collapse--the
stock market plummets, hyperinflation cripples commerce and the
mounting crisis passes the tipping point. Practically overnight, the
fragile chains of supply and high-technology infrastructure fall, and
wholesale rioting and looting grip every major city.
As hordes of
refugees and looters pour out of the cities, a small group of friends
living in the Midwest desperately tries to make their way to a
safe-haven ranch in northern Idaho. The journey requires all their skill
and training since communication, commerce, transportation and law
enforcement have all disappeared. Once at the ranch, the group fends off
vicious attacks from outsiders and then looks to join other groups that
are trying to restore true Constitutional law to the country.
Patriots
is a thrilling narrative depicting fictional characters using authentic
survivalist techniques to endure the collapse of the American
civilization. Reading this compelling, fast-paced novel could one day
mean the difference between life and death.
This is widely regarded as one of the best prepper apocalypse series written and I was so keen to read it! It has been on my bookshelves now since 2016 and I really need to start reading it!
This has just been one of those weeks that has left me feeling fed up and tired! Can I just say that I really hate housework??? Why is it that after you clean or dust something, the next time you look at it, it needs done again? Rarg! It feels never ending! I still have another round of washing and ironing to do and I've already had enough for one week!!! Plus we had to go out and get the food shopping done which is another chore that I hate. I did manage to buy a box of salted caramel muffins and a box of double choc ones, just to get my energy back of course! We haven't even got close to moving the stupid bookcases which is annoying, and I'm already knackered! We've also got a pile of big slimy slugs and snails in the garden so we're on the warpath with them too! Ugh I hate the things! *grumbles*
We're only a few weeks into the football season here and my team have just sacked our manager. We only brought him in during the summer so now I'm stressed waiting to see who is going to take over. I hate this! We've been changing managers constantly recently and I'm getting tired of all the uncertainty!
On the plus side, the guy came to look at our garden for putting those fences up and he seems keen to get started. Seems he's been working for weeks on what should have been a quick job but the homeowner wants his massive 40 foot hedges carved into fancy shapes and it's taking forever. He hopes to start on Friday if we like the quoted price. That's good as the house next door will go up for sale in the coming weeks or months and we want the fences up by then. I'm already getting stressed dreading a noisy family with ten cats and rude snotty kids!
I've been getting lots of reading done during the days-5 full length books so far this month, which is great, and then lounging in front of the TV watching Celebrity Masterchef, Great British Bake off, Great British Menu and catching up on season 10 of American Ninja Warrior and Coronation Street. Fun!
I saw this book tag over at https://readysetandread.blogspot.com/ and thought it was appropriate seeing how it is pouring down today! If you want to take part, consider yourself tagged! All graphics I've used are free from Pixabay so feel free to use any of them.
1) The Sand-A book that stuck with you long after you read it.
I read a lot of horror and nothing much gets to me but this book did. The whole idea of thinking you had cheated Death then Death comes to kill you in a brutal manner...well that is just unsettling in so many ways!
2) The Sun-A book that burned you.
There are lots of books that burned me in a bad way and this is one that annoyed, frustrated and disappointed me in equal measures. Was I to read it for the first time now, I'd DNF it.
3) The Waves-A book that calms you down after a long day.
I generally read to unwind but I don't have a specific go-to book for that...and I'm trying not to use Harry Potter for answers all the time! I'm going to pick one that I relaxed to nicely and read recently.
4) The Bathing Suit-A book with a pretty summery cover.
Problem here is that I don't read fluffy books with summer covers! My shelves are full of horror and apocalypse type covers! This was the best I could do!
5) The Birds-A book that is everywhere.
I've been seeing this series on blogs all summer and I've enjoyed what I've read of Murderbot so far. Will be reading the third one this weekend!
6) The Company-A book with wonderful characters.
Hmm, hard to choose as quite a few recently have had great characters. I loved this group of various vampires, humans and demons working together.
7) The Ice Cold Drinks-A book you absolutely gulped down.
I could barely put this book down as this covers some of my favourite storylines in the actual series. The Red and Purple Weddings and poor Tyrion's struggles!
8) The Fun Memories-A book you can't wait to return to.
I'm going to go with a series I can't wait to return to! I simply can't wait for book three next year!
Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at http://www.wishfulendings.com/ to spotlight and discuss books we're excited about but haven't read, which may not even be released yet.

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish
in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of
2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to
bring bookish friends together. http://www.thatartsyreadergirl.com/top-ten-tuesday/

This week it is bingeworthy TV!
1) Game of Thrones
I started watching the series after season six came out on dvd. I grabbed the dvds and watched all six in about a week to ten days and loved it! Action, humour, great characters, violence, politics, betrayal...it just has everything!
2) Buffy the Vampire Slayer
I was addicted to this at the time. I loved the gang, the humour, the monster of the week, the special episodes that were silent or all singing, it made me laugh and cry! I'm a bit concerned about the reboot as I fear it won't be as good.
3) The West Wing
I've always been interested in American politics and I started watching this in it's final season, liked a few episodes then bought and binged on the whole series. I loved the characters, the homour, the in depth look at politics and the White House staff. Loved it!
4) American Ninja Warrior
I'm so addicted to this! I have a lot of favourites amongst the regular contestants that I cheer on, I love how crazy the obstacles are, great commentators and great entertainment! I love Sasuke, the Japanese series and I watch all the specials, team events and versions from other countries!
5) Deadliest Catch
I saw a rerun of series one on Discovery and couldn't stop watching it. I love the high crab counts, the fights and disputes, captains losing the plot, the tricks they play on each other...and I sit and blubber during the tragedies.
6) Steve Austin's Broken Skull Challenge
My dad and I love watching this. He's a big fan of Steve Austin's films. I love the challenges and watching them compete on that obstacle course from hell in the final round. I also like that Steve just gets on with it and doesn't make the show about himself.
7) Masterchef Australia
I love all forms of Masterchef even though I can't really cook! I love the Australian one as it has tons of different team challenges, individual tests, the constant eliminations, the tension, the celebrity chefs and I love Matt, George and Gary!
8) Gold Rush/Bering Sea Gold
I love these mining for gold shows, wherever they are! In Gold Rush we get Todd's crazy decisions, the very cool Freddy and Dozer Dave, mad Tony and his dredges and Parker fighting with everyone. In Bering Sea Gold we get the crazy Kelly family, the warring Pomrenkes and the saga of Zeke and Emily. Love this and Yukon Gold!
9) The Tudors
Ok so it isn't accurate historically, but it was addictive viewing! The acting was great and you really couldn't make up the things that Henry was doing! It got me wanting to read and watch a lot more of the Tudors and the War of the Roses period, which is a good thing!
10) The Great British Bake Off
I came to this show a bit late in the day too but now I love it. I get hungry looking at all the amazing cakes, love watching the panic when things go wrong. I was worried when it switched to a new channel and new team but I actually love it more now with Prue, Sandy and Noel!
