Dog Days Of Summer #5

SUNDAY
Over the weekend, it has been raining packages with new stuff for the house. We found a collection of kitchen knives at my uncle's house so I bought a bamboo knife block to keep them in so we don't stab ourselves as they are super sharp. I got an extendable feather duster which can reach the ceiling to help me in my cleaning and a new set of dusters which were cheap. A set of new sprays to clean glass, sinks and grease, more bug spray, superglue and grout replacer for the kitchen and bathroom tiles, and one of those sealant things for jobs around the house. All very exciting (not) but stuff we needed. I have another food order in just over a week so I'll be looking to get a few more cleaning supplies, kitchen towel and medicine. I'm just about sorted for my supplies but one trip to Aldi is what I really need-and my dad and I are both a bit nervous about supermarket trips.

MONDAY
Amazon packages! It's always a joy to receive them and this one had three big tubs of Nivea face and body lotion-part of stocking up a few extras for winter. That should actually see me through to next summer, which is good. Two books also came that I've been waiting for-one was a hardback copy of an e-book I already owned-ex PM David Cameron's memoirs. The other was a memoir of a lady in waiting to Princess Margaret, which should be interesting.A bit more exciting than the weekend stuff!

TUESDAY
Ugh, two days of feeling like crap due to some continued stomach issues causing the worst constipation ever. 45 minute toilet visits are always a real laugh to brighten your day. I'm dosing myself with liquid from the doctor which of course tastes totally vile and drinking lots of fluid. Why is it that medicines like that taste like camel piss or something???!!! (Night Nurse is another vile remedy-that green ooze that seems to regenerate itself every time you drain the plastic cup of it, and you watch in horror as the level slithers back up the cup so you have to tackle it again!!!) Still, I feel much brighter after a good night's sleep and hopefully I can get back to reading something tonight. I've started two short books and want to finish them.

Today I put up my first Tackling The TBR post for a few months. My total would have reduced more after reading 11 books in ten days but a few Amazon buys found their way on to the list. I'm hoping for a good week as I'm enjoying a few Paddington books and some Enid Blyton, which are all short, but they all count for the challenge. Oh, the Paddington books are by the author Michael Bond, if anyone is looking for them and I'll be reviewing the first few this week I hope.

My dad has been glued to CNN all week, watching the many moods of Donald Trump! He's been somewhat amused and bemused by it all. I see now that Kanye West has decided to run so he can split Biden's vote and let Trump win. Democracy at work huh! I not with interest that Mr Tropical Trump in Brasil has now got the virus. I doubt that was a surprise to anyone!

Can I also say sorry for any spelling mistakes I haven't corrected. My brain feels like treacle at the moment and my spelling has been worse than usual.

Stay safe everyone and my thoughts as always are with each of you.

  1. The first thing I said when I saw Kanye enter the race is that he was doing it to draw votes away from Biden to influence Trump to win. I swear, that man will cheat any way he knows how.

I'm glad you got some Amazon packages. I'm awaiting a couple as well!

    1. I have no time at all for Kanye West I can tell you that. I'm no great fan of Biden either. He's always slagging off Britain over our democratic Brexit vote and telling us he refuses to do a trade deal with us because we dared to leave the EU. Trump ironically is a big fan of the UK and it would suit our government better to deal with him!

  2. I love getting packages in the mail, no matter what is in them. LOL And I'm still not watching much news on the telly. Too much misinformation. Stay safe:)

    1. I'm sick of most of what I'm seeing on every news channel and it's not Trump I'm talking about. I only watch CNN to keep an eye on the virus figures at the moment.

    1. The packages are certainly helping to keep my mood up! Sleep patterns are still up and down but that's nothing new!

  4. I'm not quite sure how the world will cope with another 4 years of Trump... The man is a disaster. And don't even start me on Kanye West. 🙄

Hope the rest of your week is better than the beginning of it!

    1. I have zero time for Kanye West and his attention seeking wife! The irony is that Trump would be better for UK relations than Biden would be. I'm sure most of my US friends don't want to see Trump win. It could be a fascinating election night. Regardless of who wins, I usually enjoy watching it!

  6. Hope you feel better, I hear you about medicine, night nurse and day nurse are disgusting but they work.

I’ve had some much needed packages too, everyone excites me including my new ironing board cover.

I read an interview with that lady in waiting and I’ve got her book in my amazon basket, it sounds like she’s had quite a life.

    Stay safe and well.

    1. It's funny how exciting kitchen products and dehydration sachets can be! I was hyper unwrapping everything this afternoon! I have so many exciting non fiction books about the Royals and politicians waiting for me!

  7. I love cleaning supplies! The only thing I haven't been able to find is Lysol (the spray and disinfectant). I got lucky and found some Clorox wipes the other day at Walmart.

I have no idea why Kanye is running for president! It's ridiculous.

    1. I don't think Kanye is aware of why he's doing it either. Probably told to do it by his idiot wife. The other pair I'm sick of hearing about are Depp and his psycho ex wife!!! What a pair they were!

  8. The news of Kanye running for President made me laugh so hard. And then when I heard the theory behind it (splitting the democratic party vote), I laughed even harder.
Democrats have been pulling such shenanigans for years, so it is about time they reap the harvest for their own behavior.

I'm a fan of Trump and am really hoping he takes the vote. I'm expecting things to get the nastiest we've ever seen though AND I'm expecting the Dems to do whatever it takes to prevent it (including lying, scamming, massive voter fraud the likes of which we haven't seen yet, even more false Impeachment calls, legal actions on Trump as a person, etc). It is going to be nasty and you know which side is going to be voicing all the nasty. Of course, Trump hasn't been shy about firing right back, so we'll see where it goes :-D

I haven't checked your later posts, but am hoping you are feeling better. Stomach bugs are just the worst :-(

    1. There are always so many conspiracy theories flying around aren't they! I tend to take them with a pinch of salt. To be honest with you, I don't care much for most of the democrats either especially Pelosi, and a Trump win would be better for the UK trade deal as Biden has declared we're not getting one from him due to us being idiots for leaving the EU. If there's one thing we hate, it's politicians in other countries telling us how to vote. It backfired badly when Obama tried to make us vote Remain by threats about no trade deals and Biden is doing the same.

Mind you, I think the democrats might be writing Trump off a bit early as I wouldn't be surprised to see him win. I agree that this could be a really nasty election. I also thought the whole impeachment thing was a waste of time as it was never getting through Congress and it just made Pelosi look dafter!

      Feeling much better thanks!
