Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

A much better week overall. I've managed to get a good balance of getting stuff done around the house and finally got caught up with pretty much everything online.I got some great reading done-Paddington and Enid Blyton, but the exciting news is that I started reading some horror again! AT LAST! I've spent the last two days reading zombies and Sasquatches and enjoying it very much! Details of the books and ratings are in my Friday Reading Roundup which will go up just after this post for those interested. I was so happy to get my blood pumping again with some horror plots!

I've continued to buy in my winter supplies, ensuring that I'm prepared for flu season and a possible second wave of Covid 19 over the winter period. Packages are arriving at my house regularly. It might sound expensive now but I won't be spending anything much during late autumn, winter and early spring so it works out the same amount really. It also means I won't be trying to get essentials if another outbreak causes panic buying and profiteering-I'll already have what I need. I'm hopefully not going to need to do much book buying which lets me work hard on reducing the pile!

Chuckles Blogging World
It took most of this week to catch up on what I needed to do on the blog last week! It was Wednesday before I caught up on comments and visits from the last ten days which is pretty bad. Thankfully I seem to be back on track at last and a soothing weekend awaits!

This week I haven't got a lot done because of the added reading. I have found time to watch three seasons of Pimp My Ride! I loved that show!

The Week Ahead
I'm pleased to be back into my horror reading and I'm concentrating on shorter books just now to make a dent in my TBR total. I'll be trying to read as much as I can this week while I'm in a right reading mood! I've got some work to do in the kitchen but it should only take thirty minutes to do but I'm determined to get my dad tidying up some of his bloody mess! He just leaves mess everywhere he goes! On the reading side of things, these are my next plans.

  1. I’m putting of my work in the kitchen and the rest of the house by sitting here looking through blogs! Have a good weekend and enjoy your horror.

    1. I did a bit more tidying last night in the kitchen and my dad has ordered a storage unit on wheels for the kitchen which will really help. By this winter, I should have most things around the house completed. I wish the garden was going so well.

  2. I’m reading horror again too! I started a historical horror book yesterday, and I’m loving it so far. I’m going to read the Mary Trump book too. I have to wait until the library gets it or the price goes down. Have a great week!

    1. It was so great to read zombies and Sasquatches again after such a long break and it reminded me why I love the genre so much! I generally hate buying hardbacks but I wanted a copy before Trump bans it!

    1. I'm really pleased about reading the horror. This week has been much busier off the blog so not as much read but I still have the rest of today!

  4. I really want to read Enid Blyton. She's not as popular over here but her books sound delightful. I can see though why you're glad to be back to your horror!

    1. If you put aside the odd inappropriate comment in her writing, her books are still a lot of fun to read. It's fun to have a bit more horror though!

    1. I've broken through 1500 which is a start and hopefully if I control my book buying, the total will keep going down!

  6. Between a possible second wave in autumn/winter and the "no trade deal" scaremongering for January, I can see panic buying kicking in again before too long. :(
I should probably start looking to add some must have non-perishables to the cupboard before too long...

    1. I think we could see panic buying this winter. I'm still gathering what I think I'll need so my dad and I can just stay at home and get the food deliveries. I don't order from Amazon in the run up to Christmas to avoid things getting lost in the post so I'm getting in all my puzzles and supplies! I'm doing another prepper post this week too!

    2. butting in here, but definitely looking forward to the prepper post. I figure if enough people prepare ahead of time, the panic buying might not be so bad the next time around (I can hope, right?)
