I've been thinking about putting together a book list for my upcoming summer reading to try and keep me motivated from June until the end of August. The plan is to pick books for challenges I'm doing so I can get ahead in those before we get into autumn and winter, and to pick books from different genres so I don't get fed up with reading and can switch between them as and when I feel like it.
This list is not a set list of everything I'm going to read. I prefer to think of it as a possibility list to give me options in a lot of genres so I can pick by my mood. It doesn't matter how many I get done as long as I keep reading through the summer!

I've always avoided a reading list in the past as I never stick to them and it's like a part of me rebels and refuses to be in a mood for anything I've added to it. However, lately, I've been using reading challenges to set goals and organise myself and it's working! It may not be a list exactly but it's close enough to help me wade through the pile and choose something rather than be paralysed by all the options and read nothing!
ReplyDeleteI always seem to enjoy the planning of these lists more than the reading itself! I'm actually doing pretty well working off the list so far and it has helped keep me motivated to read! I hope I get most done but the list may still change between now and the end of August!

ReplyDeleteI feel this way there is less pressure and I've got fewer books to decide between! I might do the same for future seasonsif this works.

DeleteWhat a great idea. I didn't think to do a list of reading I would like to do. There are about five books I would like to get to in August. I have a few weeks break for school then and plan to read as much as I can. Plus I will be recovering from surgery and it will be the perfect time to read!

The good thing with this list is that it is flexible. It's not a 'must read every book on it' thing and I can still mood read and substitute books if I want. I plan to do a seasonal list from now on as it works better than monthly lists!
