Chuckles Chuntering

I feel as if my holiday was a year ago! It's amazing how one week on, I feel as if I've never been away with the daily grind back in my life. We arrived back and found that in the week we were gone, front and back gardens were full of weeds that were never there before including huge stinging nettles two foot high! It looks like we haven't touched the garden in years! Now we need to get rid of all this lot before we can get started on the rest of the painting and garden work. Also we need a new garden shed as something has gnawed a big hole in the roof...a big mutant spider knowing my luck. We both feel a bit down about this garden setback that we weren't expecting but we just need to get on with it and deal with it.

I'm also nervous that after 18 months of the house next door being empty, we are going to have a new neighbour as the house has been sold. I'm really hoping that the person or persons are nice and quiet and don't have a rabble of children and noisy pets! I'll be up at the window all week in the hope of seeing who is moving in. My dad has met two of the various prospective buyers and hopes that one of them is the actual buyer. The first were two women in their twenties who both work full time, like quiet living, gardening and their cat is a house cat-he thought they were both really nice. I also like the sound of them. The other was a mother and two adult daughters and they seemed nice but we're unsure which would be the buyers. Fingers crossed that we get nice people and not neighbours from hell!

I've constructed a summer reading list which I am already making a start on today, perhaps starting with a shorter story or two. I really need a good summer of reading to catch up a bit as my Goodreads target is about 24 books behind schedule, which is pretty bad! I really do need to get some films watched and catch up on some new TV series and a lot of older ones that I haven't watched yet.

I've also been getting regular offers in comments on my blog to turn me into a vampire if I'm interested. Well, being immortal and not sleeping does have the advantage of giving me more time to read the massive TBR of books that I own so it is a somewhat attractive prospect and I guess I should be honoured to be chosen! I do hope that I can still eat regular food as a pure blood diet holds little appeal to me. Here is an example of the messages I've received.

  1. Man, isn't that how vacations go? Get back in the grind and ONE day it feels like it was forever ago.

I had to laugh at that vampire thing. Sounds like some stupid kid on drugs spamming blogs. Hopefully The Vampire Lord doesn't walk in front of an 18 wheeler truck ;-)

  3. Still getting those things about becoming a vampire? How odd! And I can relate about those weeds. I have so much yard work that needs to be done. It especially stands out after the lawn has been mowed. LOL

    1. I have thought of the advantages of being immortal-think how many books you could read and you don't have to fear burglars if you have fangs! No sign of the neighbours yet-and no sold sign on the house which is strange...

  5. OMG you've been hit by VampireLord too. For a while he was giving me the same offer. I'm glad to see I'm now in good company. I will keep my fingers crossed that you get good neighbors. You know the problems I've had so I definitely feel your pain and anxiety over this issue. I'm sure the garden will get sorted out soon!

    1. If I'm being turned it needs to be Spike or Angel or one of them from the Vampire Diaries, not a scabby Lord, y'know?! The weeds continue to battle us and my dad is going through a ton of weedkiller!

  7. LOL, omg they want to turn you into a vampire. Oh chucks...That is tooo funny.
I hope your new neighbors are nice and you all get along. I know how crappy some neighbors can be and how nice others can be. So good luck. I am also sorry to hear about the weeds. We planted a bunch of azaleas in the front of our house right after mothers day that I posted on a Sunday Post back in May and love them and they have really taken and can't wait till they bloom next year as I think they are all different colors!

    1. I'm still getting these dumb messages about vampires! I'd quite like to be one-much more reading time-as long as I can enjoy normal food and not go evil...The weeds are driving me crazy! Not easy to get the weeds dealt with if I go vampire!
