The Hocus Pocus Book Tag

There are no rules. It’s YOUR blog. But if would be nice if you linked back to Never Not Reading, and maybe the person who tagged you too. Share the love folks.

Feel free to use the GIFs used by Never Not Reading, the graphics made by Flavia the Bibliophile if you would like, both, or make and use your own visuals!

Saw this tag on the blog of Darque Dreamer. Halloween fun!

I've read lots of great trilogies! Have to mention The Hunger Games and The Morningstar Strain by ZA Recht.

Take a bow Cersei Lannister, from ASOI&F! Also Bellatrix LeStrange from Harry Potter.

Pretty much has to be Harry Potter. This series drew kids into reading from all countries and hopefully awakened a love of reading that will stay with them forever!

I read a lot of books where the plots were often silly but can't think of any offhand. So I'll mention a few that are 'silly' in a fun way like Go the Fuck To Sleep, Adulthood is a myth etc I like some silly humour sometimes, especially when it pokes fun at real life!

If a book is trying hard to be cool, that usually means it's a genre I don't read or I'm already bored and have stopped reading it!

I have to go apocalypse on this one, starting with Franklin Horton, Darrell Maloney etc who tell you bluntly what would happen if a natural disaster or an EMP attack or something occured in your country. There is no sugar coating of how society falls apart and the struggles the survivors will face. These books are scary because these scenarios could happen.

A girl has favourites that will be so forever! Harry Potter, the Arisen series by Michael Stephen Fuchs, A Song of Ice And Fire if it is ever finished that is!

Crabbe and Goyle from Harry Potter.

I'd resurrect Harry Potter for prequels. I want to see the first war between Voldemort and the Order! I want to see the birth of the Order, the missions they went on, meet those that died fighting the Death Eaters, Peter going over to the dark side, the death of the Potters, Snape the double agent, the trials, the attack on the Longbottoms! WANT!!!

I don't find this revelant to be honest. Whatever issues other readers have had with a book are their opinions and should be respected. It is not right for me to imply that their opinions are wrong or invalid in some way just because I liked the book more than they did. All opinions on a book are valid as long as the reviews are honest, without personal attacks and are fair.

A Storm of Swords! This book was totally mad and had some shocking plot twists...if you haven't watched Game of Thrones first of course! Red Wedding, Purple Wedding, the attack on The Wall, Tyrion's trial and aftermath, The Moon Door incident...it was non stop! Best book of the series so far.

Elvis appeared in the Sookie Stackhouse books...not quite what the question meant! Or you could have the Patricia Briggs wolf pack books. There is a small overlap of characters briefly in the Mercy Thompson series and others are mentioned in both that and Alpha & Omega.

Want to take part? I tag YOU!

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!  http://www.brokeandbookish.com/

NB: I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow them to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account.

I have no interest in searching for days to find unique book titles so I'm doing my own thing again. This time it is 10 Reality TV Shows that I love.

1) Great British Bake Off
I arrived very late to this and loved Mel and Sue and the challenges. Despite the adverts and with a new line up, I'm pleased to still very much love watching this. Who can fail to be entertained by a woeful soggy bottom?

2) Deadliest Catch
I never get tired of this. I have no interest in fishing personally but I love Deadliest Catch. I love the fighting on the Wizard, the pranks on The Time Bandit, Wild Bill, The Northwestern, the fight to find the best grounds...addictive!

3) Bering Sea Gold
I love watching all the fights between the gold divers and the sight of those huge cleanups by Mr Gold and his crew! I'm amused when The Kelly's start fighting and there have been really funny and sad moments in it.

4) Gold Rush
This was the first gold mining show I watched and it got me hooked. I loved watching Todd's crew learning on the job, the jungle madness, Parker fighting with his crew...I just love Dave, Chris and Freddy!

5) Masterchef Australia
I love all the UK, Canada and NZ versions but this one is my favourite. I love the challenges, the eliminations, the pure drama as you root for your favourites. I've still to watch the US version which I plan to do this winter.

6) Steve Austin's Broken Skull Challenge
My dad loves his films so when I saw this on TV I had to watch it and we love it! Three extreme rounds of physical competition against each other followed by the assault course from hell for the winner!

7) Ax Men
This is not a job for the fainthearted for sure and I became addicted to it. The fighting between the crews, the dangerous work on land and in the rivers, it was just great to watch. So sad that there are no more seasons to come.

8) Extreme Makeover Home Edition
I used to watch the cosmetic surgery version with horror and then I found this one. I sit and blubber over the terrible conditions these people lived in and their health issues then shouted 'move that bus' to see their beautiful new homes! Also loved Ty!

9) Yukon Gold
Another great gold mining show that I really need to catch up on. I never get tired of watching them do the cleanup and see what gold they managed to get.

10) Wicked Tuna
I like a lot of other fishing shows but this is one of the best. I like the competing element and the drama. Does anyone else just love Wilson???

Chuckles Cover Love #48

If there is one thing that makes a great book even better, it is when it has a cover that we love! The cover design is what catches the eye as we browse through a bookstore shelf or check out the Amazon or Goodreads recommendations. The right cover makes me look closer at a book, to read the blurb and maybe make a purchase. A poor cover might mean I never look at the blurb at all.

This Week! Kristen Painter!
I never really took to these books but I love the covers!
