Top Ten Tuesday-Spring TBR

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.  http://www.thatartsyreadergirl.com/top-ten-tuesday/

NB: I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow them to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account.

A bit out of sequence, this week I'm looking at the spring TBR. These are what I'd like to read but I'm not sure if I'llget any of them done!

1) Steve House-Beyond The Mountain
My uncle loves mountain climbing non fiction so if I can get this book read, I can pass it on to him as soon as I'm done. He's bored in isolation and needs books.

2) MR Carey-The Boy On The Bridge
I liked the first book but the blurb on this one is a bit vague and I sort of want to get it out the way if I might not like it.

3) JK Rowling-Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
I would like to get this re-read and a decent review done!

4) Martin Bell-A Very British Revolution
This book is about the MP expenses scandal in 2009, which made headlines in the UK for weeks. After I read this, it'll go in a bag for donation to my uncle's mens club when it re-opens.

5) Andrew Glencross-Why The UK Voted For Brexit
This 'book' turns out to be only 82 pages so that should be a quick look at the reasons why David Cameron didn't get the result he wanted.

6) Michael Kodas-High Crimes
Another mountain climbing book to read and send to my uncle!

7) Jon Athan-?
I don't know which one to read first! I have a shed load of his horror novellas and I really enjoy his writing, but I'm not sure which one to read next!

8) Griffin Smith-Annihilation
This is a 46 page introduction to an apocalypse series by an author I haven't tried. I love zombies and I'm hoping for a new series to enjoy!

9) TW Gallier-The Horde Rises
This is another serial zombie series by an author I haven't tried and I'm always looking to find new series to follow.

10) Kyla Stone-Chaos Rising
This is another new author I haven't tried and this is her prequel to the EMP series. It'll give me a chance to see what her writing is like.

Book Promotion: Malocchio-Dark Magic of the Evil Eye by Nicholas Anthony

In the chaos and destruction of World War II, a small farmhouse in Northern Italy stands quiet and unnoticed...until the young witch who lives there uses the dark magic of the evil eye to protect herself.

Disrupted radio communications, missing soldiers, and horrifying canine creatures draw a distant wizard closer. An American soldier named Edward may be her connection to salvation. But is the beautiful young witch protecting herself from a past she does not understand?
Thwarted in his efforts to save his companions and escape what appears to be an enemy trap, Edward Layne is pulled deep into the struggle between good and evil, light and darkness. Who is the distant wizard, and why has he come to the farmhouse?

Will the young witch overcome the taint of dark magic before Malocchio escapes and the evil eye consumes her and Edward?

Virus Days

SUNDAY
It has been quite a couple of days all in all. On the virus front, our PM Boris Johnson is still suffering the effects of the virus and now we find out that his pregnant fiancee' has caught it too. My heart goes out to Carrie but it sounds like she is recovering. I just hope their baby is ok. Princess Eugenie's father-in-law is seriously ill in hospital with it, and his wife is isolated at home with it too. How dreadful for them all. I'm glad that Charles is fully back to health and he virtually opened the new super hospital. Tonight the Queen is going to speak to the nation about the virus. Sadly, more NHS workers are dying this week which is heartbreaking.

The Hit Parade of Morons starts today with the Chief Medical Officer for Scotland getting her arse handed to her for her stupidity. The last two Thursdays, she has clapped for the NHS workers at her home in Edinburgh, appeared beside the First Minister of Scotland at the daily press conference, told us to stay at home to protect the NHS and save lives, and appeared in a TV advert telling us to stay home and observe the lockdown. In this morning's paper, we discover that she spent this weekend at her holiday home nearly 50 miles away. The Scottish government said she just went to 'check it' but today we found out that she was there last weekend as well! No doubt she would have spent the Easter weekend there too if she hadn't been caught! How DARE this woman tell us to obey HER lockdown orders and then flout it at least twice herself!!! How was she not fined by the police for making un-necessary journeys and how did she not lose her job? One rule for those in government and another for the plebs!!!

Sunbathers, those working out and other idiots break the rules again this weekend with 3000 turning up to the one park in London! A man has been charged with licking his fingers and touching food in a supermarket. A woman punches a nurse and spits at two security guards. What is wrong with these morons??? 5G phone masts were set on fire after a social media rumour that it was helping to spread the coronavirus. How stupid are these idiots???

It was with great alarm tonight that we heard news that the PM Boris Johnson was taken to hospital for tests as he is still suffering from virus symptoms ten days after being infected. This is pretty scary stuff now. Oh and Scotland's Chief Medical Officer finally resigned tonight.

MONDAY
Boris is still in hospital this morning and we are waiting for an update on how he is doing. Looks like he'll be in hospital at least another night. It's hard not to worry, not just about him, but everyone who is in danger. I've been quite upset this morning thinking about the scale of it, worrying about my family and my friends around the world. All I can really do is stay home, follow the government advice and look after my dad. Everything else is out of my control.

The Hit Parade of Morons today begins with the vile group of Labour Lefties who have been online today wishing that Boris Johnson would die. It is truly disgusting. If you are the type of person who wishes someone dead because you don't share their political views, then you are truly vile. I can't stand Jeremy Corbyn and Donald Trump but I would never wish harm on them and would be equally concerned if they came down with the virus. An ambulance was set on fire while paramedics were attending to a patient. A family travelled for two hours by car to go to a beach for the day and were warned by police. Footballers Wayne Rooney and Kyle Walker flout social distancing rules by being out together with their families. A group of 40 held a street party in Wales.

8pm
Boris Johnson has been taken into intensive care tonight. I'm totally shocked and horrified by this news. My thoughts are with his pregnant fiancee' Carrie and all his family and friends. Please let him pull through. I'm signing off to watch the news. For those who pray, please pray for our Prime Minister tonight.
