Top Ten Tuesday
is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the
Bookish in June 2010. This feature was created because we are
particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love
to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your
top ten lists! http://www.brokeandbookish.com/

This week is Ten New-to-Me Authors I read in 2017.
1) David Nelson (Blaine Family Chronicles)
An apocalypse series set in the US and featuring family and friends coming together after dangerous journeys to build a community with other survivors and find a way to adapt to the new world. Family centered and less violent than some of this type.

2) Ben S Reeder (Zompoc Survivor)
A zombie trilogy based on a prepper trying to get his family and friends to a safe haven in a zombie apocalypse. I read the first book and enjoyed it, and I plan to read the rest in 2018.

3) Kenneth Cary (The Gatekeeper)
A man dreams of a coming Yellowstone volcanic eruption and only has days to prepare for it with his family including a diabetic daughter. I've read the first book and loved it so I plan to read the rest of the series in 2018.

4) Matt Wallace (Sin Du Jour)
In New York there is a catering company that specialises in demons but even they balk at sacrificing an angel for dinner. Comedy moments aplenty in this book and I plan to read the second one at some point in 2018.

5) Matthew D Mark
A dark gritty apocalypse two parter with dangerous road journeys and a safe haven threatened by crooked town officials who have formed a militia and taken over control. The first book is the guerilla war to take back the town. Can't wait to read the second book!

6) Sarah Dalton (Mary Hades)
A teenage girl can see and communicate with ghosts, and her 'issues' have landed her in a psychiatric ward. Something evil is stalking the hospital and killing patients and only Mary can stop it. Surprisingly good YA supernatural prequel story and I hope to read more of Mary.

7) Hunter Shea
I've read a few of his horror offerings this year-deadly Sasquatches, grow your own sea serpents, loch ness monsters, humanoid mad monkeys, chimaera fish, killer X Ray specs...and I look forward to quite a few more of his books in 2018!

8) Elizabeth Briggs (Future Shock)
A group of young people time travel to the future to collect technology but things go wrong when in that future they discover their fate when they return home and decide to try and change it. Surprisingly good YA SF book and I want to read the rest of the trilogy!

9) Eric S Brown
I've read a few of his books this year-the war between humans zombies and Bigfoot tribes, the Crypto Squad-mythical creatures in a government squad led by Jimi the Mothman, and the horror of killer krakens destroying everything in the sea. Fun reads!

10) Simone Pond (Coastview Prophecies)
Blinded in the accident that killed her parents, Sibyl is a recluse. But when she has a prophecy of an explosion killing people in her town, she must face her demons to save them with help from her shifter guide dog Vago. Diverse supernatural story and I look forward to reading more from the author in this series and several others.
