Welcome to my Friday Reading Roundup! This feature will show exactly what I've been reading and DNFing through the last week.

I did NO reading from Friday to Tuesday but over the last two days I've motored through the final Harry Potter book. I love the Deathly Hallows!

Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!
****************
This has been a really trying week! It started with the bout of hayfever dying down a bit as the pollen levels dropped but then came the insect bites which have become infected. Bloody cleggs have given me cellulitus which is kind of nasty. Last night I managed to break my third tooth of lockdown and had a panic attack that kept me up all night. Today I went out to put something in the bin and got bitten again and the pollen levels are back up so the hayfever has flared up again. I think it's safe to say that it hasn't been the best of weeks plus my dad is all stressed out about all the legal phone calls he is having to make. Grr.

On the reading side of things I've zoomed through the final Harry Potter book and will get that finished tonight. I've really enjoyed my re-read though it has taken much longer than I expected. I've made a start to the first of Enid Blyton's Wishing Chair adventures and it has been fun to take a trip down memory lane with that! My reading is still sporadic but it's better than not reading at all. I still hope to improve my reading tally in the second half of the year so we'll see how things go with that.

Chuckles Blogging World
I've been so busy offline this week that as usual I'm going to be playing catchup over the weekend. I'll be popping into your blogs to say hello over the next couple of days and catching up with blog comments.

The Week Ahead
I'm hoping to finish The Wishing Chair and maybe get a few short horror reads done. I am refusing to step outside my door until the pollen levels go down and a supply of deet arrives from either Amazon or the pharmacy!

Top Ten Tuesday-Childhood Favourites Re-Read

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.  http://www.thatartsyreadergirl.com/top-ten-tuesday/

NB: I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow them to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account.

I couldn't think of any twist on the chosen topic for this week which is why I'm a few days late in posting. I'm planning to re-read and review a lot of my favourite books from childhood and a few others aimed at children or YA readers so I can get proper reviews of them on to Goodreads. Here are ten series I want to tackle.

1) Enid Blyton-various
I plan to read The Wishing Chair, Malory Towers, St Clares, Secret series, Adventure series, The Five Find-Outers, Famous Five and Secret Seven again but not all specifically this year! I'll read the odd one here and there when the mood takes me.

2) Walter Farley-The Black Stallion
I recently bought a set of Black Stallion paperbacks with gorgeous artwork so I'm looking forward to a re-read of that, then I'll keep the best ones from the series and get the others to charity shops.

3) John & Carole Barrowman-Hollow Earth
I like John as an actor and singer so I'm curious about how he and his sister have put together this series which I think is a trilogy, but I might be wrong.

4) Michael Bond-Paddington Bear
I actually don't recall whether I read any of the Paddington books as a child. I imagine that I must have done but I'll take a look at the books anyway.

5) Mark Walden-H.I.V.E
If you like Artemis Fowl, give this a try! It's about kids being trained at a school for evil masterminds and it's got tons of action and humour, and fascinating characters. I've read part of the series and want to get it all read.

6) Eoin Colfer-Artemis Fowl
I've read most of the series and enjoyed it but never got round to the rest of the series so it seems like a good idea to get caught up.

7) David Estes-The Moon Dwellers
I read and loved the first book when I read it years ago but then I stopped reading YA and never got round to the rest of the series. I really need to get on with it.

8) Judy Blume-various
I loved these books especially Margaret, Forever, Deenie and Blubber. It'll be fun to re-read all the ones I liked.

9) James Todd Cochrane-Max and the Gatekeeper
The first book was a fun fantasy magic romp and I really liked it. I have the rest of the series and really want to finish it.

10) Eunice Walkup-The Race
Not a kid's book but in my early years at secondary school, I read this book countless times. I only got hold of my own copy a few years ago as a gift and I want to re-read it!

The Dog Days Of Summer

The dog kind of sums up how I feel each day, except that as well as tired, I'm a bit grumpy. I've been staying indoors due to this bout of hay fever (which took me by surprise), other than when I have to fill the bird feeder. We have a tribe of sparrows, a few blue tits and dunnocks who like visiting the front garden each day. It has been really relaxing to just watch them have a bath or get their food, and sit singing on the fences! I went out a few days ago to fill the feeder and brushed against some weeds-now I have a rash and two big insect bites that all itch like mad!!! I've tried to identify the bites but they all look the same in online photos. I'll just need to keep it clean, use cold compresses and hope it goes away soon. Grr, I really didn't need another stupid medical thing happening!

Thankfully the pollen levels are down and I'm getting a lot of stuff done in the house. I've been sorting through piles of documents from my uncle's house, working out all the companies he was dealing with for utilities, insurance, mail order catalogues, and checking each web site for contact details ready for my dad to make the phone calls to cancel things. With the virus still rampant, call centres here have fewer people to answer phones and it's taking ages to do each call. It is so time consuming plus we are still searching his house in case we missed anything. My uncle was part of the group who went to The Falkland Islands right after the war in 1982 to rebuild the damaged infrastructure and it has been great to look at his old photos from there-the hordes of penguins, the war memorials, him and his friends. The photography itself is poor but it was about 1984 so I can't expect better!

I'm still trying to sort through files on the computer to start deleting stuff I don't want or need any more and this is turning into a job that could take months. Ugh. I also had to delete a pile of stuff from my blog as it was loading really slowly and it was time to cut back additions like blog awards, Goodreads widgets, gifs that I don't need. I hope to see an improvement when I go back on as it was getting really annoying. I've been really busy with all this stuff so I didn't finish any of the posts I was working all weekend on but hey, maybe tomorrow! I've been saying that since Sunday...

We got another food delivery this week and it is so great to be free of the hassle of having to go to the supermarket to get everything. We're going to stick with the deliveries even when things return to some kind of normal. I've been enjoying trying new meals and products each time I shop and rediscovering old favourites like Hunter's Chicken. I also ordered some retro sweets from Amazon as I'm in the mood for sherbert! Double Dips and Love Hearts dips have been a tasty treat for sure!

Hope everyone is staying safe.

Around The Blogs With Chuckles

We all enjoy snooping and lurking on other people's blogs right? Why not share those entertaining things you found with other readers and bloggers too! Welcome to Around the Blogs with Chuckles, where I take time out to show you some of my favourite blog posts from the previous seven days and link you up so you can check them out.

It is vital that we all stick together online at this time. Do what you can to show some love to other blogs, to books and authors and let us all know that you are staying safe and well. Hearing from our friends will make it easier to deal with whatever is coming in the next few months. Stay safe everyone.
