Harry Potter Diagon Alley #1

I decided to take a day off the computer and work on the construction of my first Harry Potter Diagon Alley 3D puzzle. I already had the base constructed which the two finished shops will sit on, as below. You can see where each shop goes.

I started with the walls of the Weasley joke shop, fitting together the pieces for each wall. The bright orange made it easy to find all the pieces. I then glued all the pieces in each of these five walls, which took AGES but the walls feel pretty secure now!

 
I started constructing the walls of the other building which is the office of the Daily Prophet. The total constrant between the green plants and the walls made this reasonably easy to do quickly. I glued all the pices together once I was certain the walls were correct.

On Friday last week I went back to the puzzle after a few weeks away from it. It was time to glue the wall sections together and get them secured onto the base. I regret to say that I forgot to take photos of this as I worked on it on Friday. I was motoring along with construction! I also had to fit and glue each section of the roof ready to go on last. This all took the whole afternoon but it was fun!

And now the finished project-photos show all sides of the final construction!

I'm already starting on the next set of two shops which I'll do a full post on when I finish it.

Horror Authors I Really Must Try #3

I have got a TON of horror books and a lot of them are new-to-me authors that I really want to try. Some no doubt are better known than others but I've decided to give them all a shout out by showing some of their work here. All books shown are books I own!

Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do! 

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

 A day late but better late than never! I spent all day on a craft project just for fun, constructing the first shops-the Weasley joke shop and Daily Prophet office-in my 3D Diagon Alley puzzle. A post about that will follow shortly. I decided to glue the whole thing together for stability and it proved a good move. It was fun and I'm already starting on the next puzzle which has Ollivander's Wand Shop and Scribbulus. I've had to order more craft glue to complete the four projects.

Reading has been much better this week, reading some of The Goblet of Fire and getting two more mountain expedition books read to give to my uncle. They were decent reads and I'll review them soon. I did finally get a few book reviews from March and April up on the blog this week but I still have a few to do. Today I'll be catching up with blog visits and comments as normal, then a bit more of my puzzle!
