Chuckles Chuntering
Ugh, I think I'm coming down with a viral nasty of some kind as today I look and feel like the zombie monkey above! Don't you just love this time of year for that! The good news is that I pretty much have all my blogmas posts done and ready to go-I just need to add the final books that I'm reading in December if any of them make the 'best of' grade in those categories. I've had to juggle the order of the blog posts to take account of my current reading moods as the eagle eyed may notice! I'm concentrating on the non fiction until I finish the book I'm currently reading and then it's on to the books under 200 pages-some nice zombie and apocalypse reads to look forward to! I've yet to tackle the End Of Year Survey. There's no sign of it on Jamie's web site but if it doesn't appear in the next day or two, I'll just copy the list of questions from last year and do it again. I'll also see if there are any interesting book tags going around.
It has been a bit nippy here on and off over the last week or so and Winter Is Here for sure! It just makes me want to curl up in front of the TV and re-watch Game of Thrones and read the books again! I'm showing restraint at least until I hit my goal of 200 books for the year. I'm slowly getting there but I have a list of shorter books still to tackle so I'm quietly confident! Next year I do intend to drop my goal to 100 or 150 so I can get a bit more TV watched next year and maybe do a few re-reads for fun. I'm already thinking about reducing the challenges for next year and focusing totally on mood reading. Planning is the fun part but we'll see how it all goes! And I'm still hoping for news about the release date of The Winds Of Winter but nothing to report yet! If anyone hears anything, please tell me!!!

This seems like a fun feature and I have been planning to take part since Carole launched this so at last, here we go! I have a TON of unread books to choose from in various genres and I'm looking forward to sharing some of them with everybody.
Written in 1970 by West Virginia Ufologist Gray Barker, The Silver Bridge was the first book ever written on the mysterious Mothman creature, and still one of the best. Barker was the first researcher on the scene of both the Flatwoods Monster and Mothman cases. In The Silver Bridge, Barker explores the murky psychological depths of life in WV during the Mothman era of the late 1960s.
This book was originally printed in small quantities and hence became very rare, fetching enormous prices. Now, for the first time, it is being made widely available to the general public. Inside, one finds many intriguing details about Mothman that previously escaped attention. This 2008 edition features new introductions by noted paranormal researchers Allen Greenfield, James Moseley, and Andy Colvin.
I've always been interested in myths about things like the Mothman case, and I have all kinds of cryptid related cases on my shelves. I'm also interested in most kinds of disasters so the actual Silver Bridge disaster interests me as well. I finally managed to get a copy of this book in October 2018 and I really want to read it.

Top Ten Tuesday-Holiday Reads #1

Now I'm not a person who enjoys reading holiday romances or cozy Christmas mysteries so of course I'm putting my own spin on things! I'm looking at ten scary books with a winter setting that I haven't read yet. What could be better holiday reads than that!

Garton has created another small masterpiece, contemporary adult horror at its most gruesome and loaded with extras doses of sex and gore. The confined setting creates a perfect claustrophobic stage for the story and the hellaciously quick pace never lets the action slow down.
Gabriel remembers the Last Day. He and Mags had been on a tour of the White House with the rest of Miss Kimble’s first-graders when it happened. They fled with the President to a long-abandoned bunker, even as the first of the bombs began to fall. Ten years have passed, and now Gabriel is almost grown. He still lives deep inside the mountain, waiting for the world to thaw. But outside the storms continue to rage, and supplies are running low. The President says it will be okay, because they are the Chosen Ones. But Gabriel isn’t so sure. Gabriel’s their scavenger, and he’s seen what it’s like out there.

Now all Gabriel can think is how he's going to make it back to the bunker and let the President know what he's found. But Gabriel's troubles are only just beginning. For things are not as they seem inside the mountain, and soon he will face a much larger problem: how to get Mags and the others out.
