ReplyDeleteI had no idea I'd read so many huge ones until I did the list!
DeleteI'm seeing a lot of Stephen King in there...
ReplyDeleteHe has quite a few down in the 500's as well! Books that size scare me now!
DeleteI knew Martin wrote massive books, but I never realized how long King's books were until today.
ReplyDeleteSame here! I'd forgotten how huge some of them were!
DeleteI love that you went so far. I looked a few ahead because mine seemed like a race between Stephen King and Harry Potter. I knew you'd have a lot of Martin books on your list!
ReplyDeleteThere would be more GRRM but I bought the split volumes of a few of the books instead of the huge single editions!
DeleteThere’s an EXTENDED version of The Stand?! You mean there’s a longer version than the one I read? OMG, how does anybody write that much?! Stephen King needs to calm down.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I'm not sure which edition you read but this was the edition released in the 1990's that was full of the stuff King's publisher made him cut out. I love this book!
Deleteyup King is the king of loooong books. BUT when you like it you don't care right? Like .. I lost count of how many times I have reread Gone With The Wind and HP. And they never felt "long" to me I need to keep trying with King's books and Got! I HAVE to read them LOL :) Great list Chuckles! :)
ReplyDeleteIf it is well written, you don't mind so much I guess! Harry Potter never felt long to me when I was reading it. I need to reread and get decent reviews done for these huge bad boys...*groans*
DeleteI guess Philippa Gregory has some big ones too! And of course Martin, who makes up probably half my largest books!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that her books never felt long when I was reading them which I guess is a good thing, but I was surprised to see her feature!
DeleteYou have tackled some long books, Chuckles! I don't mind long books as long as the story is goo. I see several here that are on my tbr list.
ReplyDeleteHopefully you'll enjoy them!
DeleteYeah I read the extended version of The Stand too, and I wish I hadn't! I liked the book, but from what a lot of people have told me, many of the cuts and edits were there for a reason. I enjoyed the book anyway!

I really do have to reread my favourite King books. I need to write better reviews for some of them!
DeleteIt's gotta be mostly non-fiction and fantasy doorstoppers, for me! Hmmmm...
ReplyDeleteThere are some massive non fiction books out there! I have a lot of big political and history non fiction waiting for me...
DeleteI think The Stand is one of King's books that I haven't read. Needful Things is one of my favorite books. I liked the movie also even though it wasn't a very good movie
ReplyDeleteI liked a few of the films like Salems Lot, Carrie, the Cat's Eye stories, IT...they could've done better with Christine though!
