Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

The end of another week and it couldn't come soon enough for me. My dad and I have been working on getting more done around the house. The kitchen has been more or less finished other than moving the food from the old food cupboard to the new home. I might tackle that next week. My dad is still sorting through cds and we're both a bit grumpy and tired right now but the end is in sight and a nice relaxing winter awaits! The down side to all this work is that at night all I want to do is veg out in front of the TV and do nothing. I've been too tired again to concentrate on reading so that's two weeks of no reading! I really do need to get some decent rest and get back to reading books again!

The blogging has taken a bit of a hit this week as well. At the start of this week I was so far behind with everything. I'm caught up now with answering comments on my blog and blog visiting but I've had little time to write posts and do reviews at all. I'm just glad that I've had these regular posts done weeks in advance that I could fall back on. I'll be trying to get ahead on all of these bad boys again now that our work is drawing to a close! I have found a little time to get a few new books and treats as a reward for our work...!

As I've mentioned, it was a week of getting my regular posts out this week and not much time for anything else but I have no mad plans for doing a ton of stuff next week so things should be back to normal I hope!

Film & TV Reviews
This week was another slothing around week in front of the TV. I caught up with Coronation Street and watched some reruns from 1987 as well. I watched one of my favourite shark films-Deep Blue Sea, just for fun.

I haven't read anything all week again, which is annoying but I'm just tired. I hope this will change next week. I don't have any specific plan for which book to read but I'm hoping to start going through thrillers, SF and fantasy and trying to clear space on my bookshelves.

  1. I am glad to hear your and your Dad are almost done. You will certainly deserve your break over the winter. Mr. Barb has arranged for the neighbor to put new flooring and new ceiling in our kitchen the second week of November. Then I need to redo the cabinets and paint the walls. I'm not looking forward to it but am excited about the finished project. Horror Island looks great and I've been meaning to grab the Turtleshell Mountain book. Hope you enjoy all your new books!

    1. It's mostly driving to the dump with stuff, bags to charity shops and rearranging shelves that are to come for my dad. I just have some carpet deep clean & hoovering and sorting out the new food cupboard and I'll be happy with that. There are cupboards that need going through but that stuff is out of sight and can wait!

I'm glad you've finally got somewhere with your neighbour and will be getting the work done. This guy for our fence was meant to come by on Wednesday with a quote but there has been no sign of him-big surprise!

  2. I’ve been struggling with reading all year, so I feel your pain. Sometimes I’m just too tired to bother with it. Still, I’m hoping to catch up on my Goodreads goal before the end of the year.

    1. It's hard to find the urge to read when you're tired, especially mentally tired. It's the same for stress and depression. One bad spell can ruin your motivation and concentration for weeks or months. I really hope you feel up to reading soon.

  3. Seeing the Hunter Shea book here, Olga Nunez just blogged a great review of his Creature. Have you read that one?

    1. No I haven't seen it. I only see the book reviews on blogs I follow. Sadly I don't have enough time to browse for other blogs!

  6. I haven't read as much as I usually do and it is kind of driving me crazy. There are only so many hours in the day and unfortunatly something had to give. I am sure that all of the work you and your dad have been do it will be worth it but it will also be nice to finally finish!

    1. I'm pretty much done but getting my dad to tidy his stuff away is more of a challenge! Just a few cupboards for me to go through and I'm done. I'm looking forward to afternoons of relaxation this winter!

  8. I know how you feel. I feel like I keep lagging behind with school and try to catch up etc. I had a bunch of my CWW posts done and now I have none. I had a bunch of Monday posts done and now I have none. So I my new one for tomorrow done but need to work on a few more to have some lead way. What can I do. Rome was not built in a day. Glad that you are almost done and can relax soon. I know it will all be worth it.

    1. I've pretty much run through my stock of pre-prepared blog posts so this weekend I started on rebuilding the stock again but it's so time consuming! I need to get ahead on the book reviews now which I'm not looking forward to. I have the advantage of being home all day so I have sympathy for everyone juggling home, work, studying and family life!

  9. Just think how great you'll feel when it's all done. Man oh man, some of those books have such creepy covers I get all tingly looking at them. LOL

    1. It'll have to be done for now-I have had a sore elbow for over a week but it seems it's bursitis which means complete rest for it to recover. I don't see how a right handed person can't use their arm for two to three weeks!
