Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!
Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

I'm glad to see the end of this week as it has been full of housework, DIY and house tasks that have left me pretty sore and tired. The plan now is to rest over the weekend and get the next stage of work done next week. My dad will be putting together the new 2 shelf cupboard for his cds while I go through cupboards in the kitchen and living room to see what we can send to the charity shops. Hopefully it will give me a little storage space back so I can de-clutter the kitchen a bit. After that we need to get these damn bookcases swapped over but that will probably have to wait another week!
It was a quieter week for books this time. Not as many to share with you! I decided to treat myself to paperback copies of a couple I had on ebook but hadn't read-risky yes but I can't resist the Pliosaur covers! So you might recognise these covers from another weekend roundup! I did get some good reading done, squeezing in the last few books before the month ends and Spooky Booky month begins!
PAPERBACKS
Chuckles Blogging World
Last week I started following a whole pile of new horror related blogs-over 20 in fact. So far I don't think any have commented back but I'll give it a couple of weeks and see if any of them respond before pulling the plug.

It's a manic end to the month as I try to squeeze in the last few books I want to read. Since last Friday up to this morning I have read Black Spawn, Shark Station Nyet and Churn. I'm currently reading the Shayu Situation and Blood in the Water so I'll finish the Apex Predator series by Carolyn McCray tonight. Tomorrow I'm reading the final Kitty Norville book by Carrie Vaughn and then I have a day to try and read Armada and Dracula vs Hitler! It'll be tight as to whether I manage it or not but I'd love to get them done. Then horror month starts and these are the first three on the list!
Where did you find the horror blogs - I want to find some too! Also, I hope you enjoy a relaxing weekend. After all the hard work this week, you deserve it for sure! How could you resist the covers on the Russ Elliott books? Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI used the list that Bark posted last week. The link to it is included in my Around the Blogs post too. I've been commenting on their blogs over a week but as yet none of them have visited me back! Yep those covers made me grab those books!
DeleteFor being so busy, you got a lot of books read. I barely did anything this week and only read 1 book. Your whole house must be full of shelves by now :). It sounds like you have a lot of them.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I did ok last week all things considered. I'm doing good this week but trying to fit three books into two days will be a challenge if I want to finish all the books I set out to read! My bedroom has 9 varying sized bookcases with pretty much all books. In the rest out the house there are units and shelves for dvds and cds-in the hall we have three bookcases, two in my dad's bedroom, and 5 in the living room of varying sizes!
DeleteI loved so many of the Lois Duncan books when I was growing up. I think I had read them all by middle school. I was never as happy with the film version though :-/
ReplyDeleteI read Summer of Fear when I was at school and liked it-I'm pretty sure I saw it as a film. I loved I Still Know What You Did Last Summer-it was my favourite of the films!
DeleteI'm not sure I could pick a favorite, but Killing Mr Griffin is definitely top 3 along with I Know What You Did Last Summer. Daughters of Eve would round out the group but I don't think I could pick a #1 from those. I never saw the second movie, I am not a fan of Hewitt!
DeleteThis will only be my second of her books I think! It should be a quick read though.
DeleteOoh I like those Vengeance from the Deep covers! And yes, some weeks are best left in the rear view mirror :)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't resist the paperbacks-they look amazing with all that colour! I'm having a relaxing weekend, then it's more work next week!
DeleteThe new books look like fun! Enjoy! :D
ReplyDeleteI've been so bad at visiting back lately myself. I think I'm getting back into the swing of things so far but I still have a bunch of comments to answer and return. :( I suck!
I think we can forgive you with a new household to get organised! It would've been quicker for me to move house than this slow upheaval I'm going through!
DeleteI have seen Halloween so many times. Do I really need to read the book? I am sure it is better. I don't think I need to read it, at this point. I have to check out some of your posts. I feel like I am so behind. =) I am trying to take it easy and do some housework and cooking this weekend. But, still trying to get my homework done. There just doesn't seem to be enough hours in a day does there.
ReplyDeleteMary
I love the Halloween films and I'm keen to see the new one! My first reads are all pretty short so I should have that done in a night and maybe slightly into tomorrow morning. I have a ton of stuff to do again this week. Still, good progress is being made on the house!
DeleteI need to go through the house room by room and purge items we don't need anymore. It can be a huge task. I hope you enjoy all of your new reads!
ReplyDeleteWe're slowly getting there, moving assorted crap from our various rooms to rubbish or charity shop bags ready to get rid. We have 6 bags of shredded paper as well! It feels never ending but another couple of weeks and the worst will be done!
DeleteI've got purging and clean up to do in all the rooms. When the kids all left for college all their stuff got kind of shoved in one room which is the room that I eventually plan to turn into a library but just the thought of dealing with all that crap makes my head hurt! Enjoy your new books and getting them all read. I've been really dropping the ball on the whole actual reading part lately! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteKeep thinking of the lovely library it will become! I feel your pain-I hate sorting, tidying and cleaning and I've put this clearout of mine off for a decade so it's coming back to bite me now! Have a good week and I hope you get in some great reading!
