Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!
****************
Anyone who read my Chuckles Chuntering post this week knows that I've had a stressful week so I'm not going to dwell on that. A little bit of book buying yesterday and a PS4 game for my dad helped and a big takeaway cheese pizza tonight will also help! I started the week off slow but I've got some good reading done this week-with the electric fire broken in my room and the storms outside it has been snuggle under the duvet to read time for sure! I haven't tackled any of the films planned for this month which is a bot of a concern with 9 days of the month to go but if I get a few done I'll count it as a success. Films come behind books in the pecking order at the moment with my lack of shelf space!

I really need more shelf space AGAIN. My dad hasn't constructed the shelf unit for the mass market paperbacks yet but I'm not as bothered about that as I have planned what I'm doing there. I need space in the bookshelves I already have so I'm going to clear out the bookcase next to my bed and remove the dvds and audio cds from it to give me two spare shelves that I can move my thrillers and SF books into. That gives me one whole shelf for my growing Indie horror shelf in the future. I haven't quite thought where I'm putting the dvds and audio books yet but as the Fraggles say 'worries for another day!'

Chuckles Blogging World
For ages I've been moaning about finding it hard to locate other fans of horror with blogs to follow as it takes so much time to go looking. Well this week the wonderful Bark put a list of horror fans who review horror books on a nice handy list and thanks to that, I'm now checking out about 30 new blogs! Thanks Bark! You can find the list here if you want to check it out.
This should be a great resource for horror reviews and new releases, and hopefully even a few new horror fans to follow!

This week got off to a slow start but I recovered to get a few books read for my sharkfest-I read The Tank, Devil Sharks, Fathomless and Island Red which I'm happy enough with considering I read nothing last weekend! I'm extending my sharkfest by a few days so I hope to get the final two books and two novellas done over the weekend. That then gives me a week to tackle the other four books I want to read for the month. Should be ok! These are the upcoming reads after Apex Predator is finished.

  1. Sharks are always good. I found a decent looking shark movie I was unaware of called Frenzy. Hope to watch it soon. Glad you and your dad were able to find some things to save you from a less than stellar week!

    1. There's something so scary about sharks that make them so great for a nice horror read! Things are looking up a bit as my dad is feeling much better.

  2. Oh, that list of horror bloggers is cool. I don’t read as much horror as I used to, but I still like to keep up with what’s coming out. I hope next week is less stressful for you!

  3. Whoo hoo for finding your horror tribe. I feel like I am always trying to find more contemporary readers, so I think it's cool you were able to find a list out there. ((HUGS)) I hope things get better for you.

    1. It's great finding a list where someone else has done all the research for you! If I see a similar contemporary list I'll let you know!

  4. Everytime I get a new bookshelf and think that I will be set for a while, I blink and it is full and I need another one. I am really still not sure how that happens. I see you downloaded Dracul. I have that one pre-ordered in audio and cannot wait to give it a try. Have a great week!

    1. I think the problem I have is that when I see the new bookcase, I decide I can buy a few more and a week or two later the darn thing is nearly full! I know I can't have another one now so I'm stuck and need to start getting old ones read before I buy in new ones!

  5. Snuggling under a blanket and reading sounds like complete heaven. I'm finally really enjoying what I'm reading and now all I want to do is read! Which of course means now I have less time for it. I love the look of The Alchemist's Daughter and Age of Myth is on my TBR. It looks so good! Hope you're having a great week and will have that new bookcase soon!

    1. My dad keeps getting diverted with other things so it is half done at the moment which is frustrating! I just want to get the rest of my Book Cave finished!

  6. Dracula vs. Hitler... OMG, how have I never heard of this one? I don't blame you for snuggling up. I would too! Hope that cheese pizza, game and books helps you.
