Top Ten Tuesday-Books On My Autumn TBR

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.  http://www.thatartsyreadergirl.com/top-ten-tuesday/

This week I'm looking at books on my autumn tbr!

1) Ernest Cline-Armada
I read and enjoyed Ready Player One so it seemed a no brainer to try this one too. I've seen mixed reviews but I hope to get to it later this month.

2) Patrick Sheane Duncan-Dracula vs Hitler
I cannot resist a book that has the vampires taking on and trying to stop Hitler! I'm not exactly sure what to expect but I plan to read it this month.

3) Jeff Menapace-Bad Games
I read and enjoyed his Wildlife horror book so I wanted to try this series of his. Sounds like it could be full of torture and maybe some gore so it is the perfect horror read for next month!

4) Eli Constant-Dead Trees 2
I loved the first book Dead Trees when I read it and have been meaning to read this since 2014. My Halloween horror month seems like the perfect time!

5) Anne McCaffrey-Dinosaur Planet
This ia actually a re-read as I can't remember anything about it from when I read it and I'd like to see what I think of it now and read the sequel.

6) Daniel Pyle-Dismember
Who can resist a horror book with that as a title? I really like the sound of this one and plan to read it in October.

7) Curtis Richards-Halloween
I managed to get hold of the book of the film on my e-reader after years of trying and it should be a fun book to start off my October horrorfest!

8) Carolyn McCray-Apex Predator
I'm currently reading this shark book set this month and intend to get fully finished with the series. So far I've read two short stories and the one full novel and I have a couple of novels and short stories still to look at.

9) Mae Clair-A Thousand Yesteryears
I'm always interested in books with an urban legend plot and I'm really interested in the Mothman legend. I'll be reading this in November!

10) G Michael Hopf-The End
I have this series of apocalypse books on my shelf and it has received mixed reviews so I decided to make it priority to read in November and see what I think.

  1. I attempted Ready Player One twice. I loved the beginning, but I don't know, I lost interest. I hope you get to read all of these and they are all winners.

    1. I surprised myself by liking it! I'm not a YA SF kind of person but maybe it was being an 80's child that had me liking it! I hear there is talk of a sequel which sounds interesting.

  2. I want to like Ready Player one so much, but I couldn't get into it. I wonder if trying Armada might be a better wayt o get into his writing.

    1. It's always a pity when we just can't get into a book that we really liked the sound of. Ready Player One gets the better reviews but that doesn't mean you won't like Armada if you try it. I guess that's the fun of reading, never knowing what we'll like!

  3. Lots of these are new to me authors. Got to go see what I might like!

  4. I didn't realize there was a Halloween book. How exciting. I am also anxious to hear your thoughts on Dracula V Hitler as I have that one waiting as well.

    1. Halloween should be a nice quick read to get me into the horror mood! I only realised it existed about two months ago and that started me hunting down old film novels!

  5. I hope you love them all! I read Ready Player One, but I’m not sure if I’ll ever read Armada. There are so many books and so little time!

    1. If Armada does what Ready Player One does and avoids the tropes I'm hoping I'll enjoy it!

  7. Nice, I see some good ones on here, including Armada and Dracula vs. Hitler. Looks like you have some great reading ahead of you in the next few months!

  8. I'll be really curious what you think of Dinosaur Planet, as it looks like it could be some old school SF fun but I'm just not sure.

    1. At the time I read it I went into it thinking brutal version of Jurassic Park and I didn't get it and felt disappointed. I guess I want to try it again and judge it on its own merits this time!

  9. I'm not familiar with any of these. Horror books are hit or miss for me. There has to be substance more than "as much gore as possible" with no story

    1. The only horror I really avoid are the ones that use toilet functions as torture, animal abuse and slow gothic epics with haunted houses and little action. I don't mind the gore but I do like a ton of scary tension!

  10. I liked Ready Player One and have been thinking about trying Armada - partly because Wil Wheaton narrates it and I loved what he did with Ready Player One! I want to get some more horror or at least some scary stuff in my reading this October!

    1. I got Armada free so I'm certainly going to try that and I hope to fit it in this month if I can. If it's half as good as Ready Player One I'll be happy! I'm so looking forward to a mad horror month coming up with classic horror films thrown in for good measure!
