Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

This is a special, if a few days late, edition of my weekend roundup. It is late because I was away for a week on a last minute holiday arranged by my dad. Blackpool is a seaside resort on the north west coast of England, about a four-five hour drive away. I'll be honest that the weather forecast looked pretty dreadful but it's a place with lots of good shopping and indoor attractions if it does rain so we never worry about weather. In fact we saw two small showers of rain during the whole week which was a bonus! Anyway we had a great time and it was nice to get a change of scenery. Now I'm playing catchup with blog posts, blog comment replies and blog visits!

Oh and I managed to fill a rucksack full of the books I bought while I was there-mostly from charity shops and second hand bookshops which was fun! I also treated myself to a few dvds. My dad treated himself to four bags of dvds and cds! He went into one shop to ask what time a neighbouring shop opened and came out with 24 martial arts dvds at £1 each! Still, they were all cheap and he had a good holiday!

The Blackpool Book Haul Part One!
All of these books are paperbacks/hardbacks of books I had as ebooks, replacements for damaged books I own (the Morganville ones) or books I'm giving a second chance to.

The Blackpool Book Haul Part Two!
These books are all paperbacks/hardbacks that I'm buying for the first time.

Did you have a good week? My full weekend post will be back on Friday as usual!

  1. I didn't hit it off with Annihilation so I hope you enjoy it more. It was so nice of your dad to surprise you and it sounds like you had fun. I have to admit, you make me a little teary eyed missing my Dad when you guys do things like this. Looks like a great haul. I LOVED Wolves of Winter and An Unwanted Guest so I hope you enjoy them as well. Have a great week and Cass says hello!

    1. I'm a bit worried about Annihilation as I've heard the book and the film are weird and that concerns me! I did spend a lot of time sitting outside charity shops as dad looked through tons of cds but the weather was good so that was ok! I've always been close to my dad and I'm trying to enjoy every minute I have with him. Give Cass a big hug for me!

  2. What a lovely surprise! And to then find so many books! Please tell me that at least SOME of them are already on your TBR ;)

    1. My TBR is books I actually physically or digitally own but haven't read. The books I want to buy are on a wishlist instead. It makes it easier to work with.

The Queen Victoria novels, the Diana book and the whole second part of the book haul have been added to the TBR-14 books in total. The Three Morganville books are replacing damaged books and the other three are books already on TBR as digital copies so those six don't count on to my TBR total. Still, 14 is a big hit to add on in one go so I better get reading!

  3. The last minute holiday sounds so fun! Those can be the best kind. We've hit full summer heat - temps in the 90s+ (32C) and ridiculously high humidity - so outside is looking less pleasant. What wonderful books you picked up! Hope you have a great week!

    1. Every time we grabbed something we were saying 'but we're on holiday' so that was the excuse!
