Books from the Backlog is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your bookshelf. You might be surprised by some of the unread books hiding in your stacks. Go to Carole's blog and add your blog post link in to join in the fun! Hosted by Carole at https://carolesrandomlife.blogspot.co.uk/
This seems like a fun feature and I have been planning to take part since Carole launched this so at last, here we go! I have a TON of unread books to choose from in various genres and I'm looking forward to sharing some of them with everybody.
The Earth is dying. Darrow is a Red, a miner in the interior of Mars. His mission is to extract enough precious elements to one day tame the surface of the planet and allow humans to live on it. The Reds are humanity's last hope. Or so it appears, until the day Darrow discovers it's all a lie. That Mars has been habitable - and inhabited - for generations, by a class of people calling themselves the Golds. A class of people who look down on Darrow and his fellows as slave labour, to be exploited and worked to death without a second thought. Until the day that Darrow, with the help of a mysterious group of rebels, disguises himself as a Gold and infiltrates their command school, intent on taking down his oppressors from the inside.
But the command school is a battlefield - and Darrow isn't the only student with an agenda. Break the chains. Live for more.
I know that this series has been out there for a long time and a lot of bloggers have already read and enjoyed it but I've always been in two minds about reading it. It sounds interesting but I'm just not sure if it is my kind of thing after hating reads like Wool. I do intend to read it at some point and it has been on my TBR since November 2018.
I found this MUCH better than Wool...

That's a relief!
DeleteI really enjoyed the first book and need to catch up on the series. I'm thinking you will like it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit out of my comfort zone but I have been trying a few things like that in fantasy and SF and finding some I enjoyed. Fingers crossed!
DeleteI have heard raves about this series and this author and have been wanting to try it. I'll be curious to see what you think of it.
ReplyDeleteI've heard a lot of good things about it but comparisons to Wool had me very nervous as I DNFed that one!
DeleteI have never read a Brown book, but I have seen many, many raves for this book. I think my daughter may have read it too.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that I like it but dystopian reads are a bit hit and miss for me these days!
DeleteI really enjoyed this series, Chuckles. I liked it enough that I bought the audiobooks for a re-read someday. I thought that is was much better than Wool. I can't wait to see what you think.
ReplyDeleteI really didn't like anything about Wool so I'm glad so many people that this is better!
DeleteI have yet to read this one and I so want to. I know Angela said she didn't like this one but I am curious to know how it is.

I'm not sure about it at all, especially after hating Wool so much. I love the covers for the series so I hope I like it!
