Top Ten Tuesday
is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the
Bookish in June 2010. This feature was created because we are
particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love
to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your
top ten lists! http://www.brokeandbookish.com/

My dad and I don't bother exchanging presents as it is just the two of us so no point in a Santa list for me. Instead I'm doing Ten Things I've Planned For Winter
1) Big Bash Cricket
Every year I'm glued to the TV for the winter to watch Australia's domestic 20 over cricket series. I love it because it is fast and entertaining, with funny commentators.
2) World Championship Darts
You know it's winter when the World Championships are on! I watch the PDC and the BDO versions which gives me weeks of entertainment into the New Year!
3) The Ashes
This year England are in Australia to battle for the Ashes. This is one cricket series that I never miss! I can't sit up all through the night for it like I used to so I just record it on the digibox. However, won't be bothering with the final two Tests as Australia have already won...
4) Winter Olympics
I LOVE this! I love biathlon, speed skating, moguls, cross country skiing, bobsleigh, skeleton, luge, the mad ski and snowboard cross...can't wait!
5) Overeating
I have turkey joints with stuffing, gammon joints and pork joints with crackling, bread sauce, duck fat potatoes, frozen meals, pasta, rhubarb crumble, Guylian belgian chocolates, After Eight Mints, home made soup...we're ready for winter!
6) Reading
I really do intend to get some decent reading done over the winter in general. I needed to hit my Goodreads goal first, which is now done and then get out of this mega slump I'm in!
7) Films
In between sporting events I do intend to try and get some films watched and post some film reviews this winter. I have a current urge to watch Paddington!
8) No Shopping
The big joy about the festives is that I don't go to the supermarket from December until January! I make sure that I've stocked freezer, fridge and cupboards so I only need the essentials at the local shops. Then I can avoid crowds of mad shoppers and Christmas music!
9) New Sofa
It's came on the 8th of December! I shall be able to snuggle up under my warm blanket to watch winter TV if I ever get the room back to normal!
10) Avoiding Christmas Stuff
Priority will be given to avoiding the reruns of the same Christmas films that appear on the TV every year! There will be no Elf or Bad Santa in this house!!! I might watch Home Alone and the Muppet Christmas Carol as exceptions if time allows...

I love how your Christmas sounds. I would love to be able to chill with my father again on Christmas (or anytime for that matter). This time of year make me miss him so much. We got a new couch too. Mr. Barb bought a nice leather one but we bought a nice cover to put over it so it would wear better (because come on, dogs!) and I swear it's not real comfortable. I'm always straightening it and I really have to find some kind of system.
ReplyDeleteCass and Booker T send Auntie Chuckles Happy Christmas Wishes! (and a ticket for a free cat removal - because Cass knows how you feel about cats!)
We used to do the big Xmas thing with presents but after losing my mum in 2014, my dad and I lost the taste for it really. I still do the fancy food though! I do love the sofa and it's comfy but after new year I really need to get the set up organised into a user friendly system! Oh dear I'm sorry your sofa isn't very comfy.
DeleteBig hugs to both your furry guys! And a toast to cat free zones!
Haha, I already re-watched Elf. I’m looking forward to the Winter Olympics, even though hockey is the only thing I really watch. I’m going to be doing a lot of overeating, too.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
It's funny, hockey is one of the few events I don't watch in the Winter Olympics!
DeleteLove the Winter Olympics, will totally be watching (as much as I can since in the US the coverage sucks lol). Cricket and darts sound fun too!
ReplyDeleteHome Alone is fun.
Lots of sporting fun for Chuckles though I'll be fighting to see the darts and cricket when my dad is determined to watch his horse racing!
DeleteWe love Home Alone! (And Elf, too.) I am also very excited to overeat, as well. I try to lose a few pounds before Christmas, so that when I get to go home and have my mom make me all the yummy foods I want, I don't feel nearly as bad about it.
ReplyDeleteI really like the first two Home Alone films. I could have coped with a new Kevin type character but losing Harry and Marv was disappointing!
