Review of the Year Fantasy

I admit that despite loving Lord of the Rings as a bedtime story when I was a kid, I never really took much of an interest in the fantasy genre. Oh I'd watch fantasy films and TV shows but the books never much appealed until I started binge watching Game of Thrones in 2016. That got me interested in reading the books and I hope to maybe venture a little more into fantasy next year!

These were my fantasy themed reads this year:

Anyone sensing a pattern here? I loved the actual Game of Thrones novels but I found A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms dull and boring in comparison. The companion non fiction was enjoyable!

  1. Wow, when you decide to do something, you really go for it lol. Those are some intense fantasy books! Or so they seem, but I haven't read them. Glad you enjoyed most of these!

    1. Yeah not much variety! But then again I've never been much of a fantasy fan though I intend to try a few more next year.

  2. I’m the same! I never really liked fantasy until I got addicted to GoT on TV. I still haven’t found many fantasy books I like, but I’m trying.

    1. A lot of them are so big and intimidating! I've picked up a few but whether I get to them next year is open to debate!

  3. I still need to get The World of Ice and Fire so I can read all that background info lol. I think Storm of swords and A Dance with Dragons are my favorites of the books.

    1. It's a beautiful book though I would like a lot more on Robert's Rebellion! I wish they'd film that as a prequel!

  4. I love fantasy and it makes me so happy to see that GRRM and Game of Thrones have drawn so many new fans to the genre!
