Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

Seriously, it can't be Friday again already! It only seems like a day ago that I wrote my last roundup post! Today is the first day I could say that I feel cold in broad daylight, and the nights are holding on to a chill that makes me want to stay snuggled and ignore the alarm. I don't think winter is hitting just yet, as it is only August, but the heatwave is a distant memory for me. My dad is putting together a new unit to store part of his cd collection in. It's a lovely cabinet but has cheap screws and fittings so there has been a lot of swearing! He plans to do my new bookcases after that so that's exciting! For those who didn't see my post about it, my dad found five thin corner units from a charity shop at £2 each and if you join two together you get a thin bookcase that fits into the only space left in my bedroom! I'll be putting a second pair on top of the first pair to  store even more. *happy dance*

I've alternated this week between reading and bingewatching season 8 of American Ninja Warrior and the second season of Team Ninja Warrior! I just love that so much! A few bits and pieces on the book buying front but quite restrained overall!

The three books I chose for last week were Throne of Glass which I DNFed as expected, Strange Practice which I really enjoyed and My Lady Jane which I've started reading. These are the next books I plan to fit in before the end of the month!

  1. It’s been cold here, too! But it’ll be back in the 90s next week. I’m not amused. Enjoy your new books!

    1. The weeks are going by too fast for me! Still, I have a nice winter of TV and books planned!

  3. I hear you about stopping following people. I had to stop following a particular blog for a week (which is run by a group) because a couple of the posters would "bold" certain sentences in their reviews. It really threw me out of the rhythm of reading the whole thing. When I asked about it, they said they did it "for those who skim". That gave me some great ammunition for a PSA post probably in october :-D We'll see if I go back to following them or not.

Looking forward to what you think of WArlock holmes. I'm waiting until the series is wrapping up before diving in and so far, I've heard very mixed reviews.

    1. It was actually something you said on a blog post here at the Cave that made me think why should I bother following if I'm not going to or can't comment. You were right! There are other blogs out there that deserve my attention instead.

Blogger has a habit of choosing sentences to put into super-bold print at seemingly random points in my reviews and it's annoying to keep going and changing it, as I don't like looking at that. I would find that offputting to read on other people's blogs too. I don't get why they'd set up the content of their post to cater for those not willing to read what they say. That's weird!

  4. You're killing me. I'm trying so hard not to buy any books right now. LOL Some of these must be checked out.

    1. I'm sure I had The Captive Queen at some point but I wasn't that interested in it when it wasn't a Tudor book. Now I'm ready to branch out in history!

  8. The heatwave has left here, too, and I'm so happy it's cool at night! The sun is still warm during the day, which is nice - but it's not HOT.
How awesome that you're getting more bookcases. I feel like each time I get a new one, it only takes a few weeks and it's full. I have no idea how that happens ;)
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

    1. I think a lot of us are glad to see the back of heatwaves at the moment! It's so exciting to get new bookcases then there is the fun of sorting through them and arranging the books just so! I bought one just a few weeks back and my inner bookworm took that as an excuse to buy a lot more and now it's full!

  9. It is hot today but it does seem to gradually be getting cooler even though it was really hot this morning while I walked my dogs! Great new reads this week. I do need to read Hunter Shea and more from Kealan Patrick Burke. Have a great week!

  10. We've been having warm weather with the usual thunderstorms that come with it. Most of the time we are able to do whatever we want and the storm waits until after we're done having fun. lol

  11. The OwlMan looks like I would love it. I will have to check that one out. Lots of goodies this week. Enjoy them! NO to winter! I don't wear socks in the house ever. I try to avoid them at all costs. I love my slippers. I am a slipper person. =)

  13. The evenings here in Colorado have been getting cooler, which I'm happy about... but it's too hot for me during the day. I'm looking for cooler temperatures. I would like to read something by Philippa Gregory, maybe one day. You have some wonderful books, I hope you enjoy them all.

    1. Ironically I was really cold in my room last night which played havoc with my reading! I need to go back and read the whole Philippa Gregory set in order, all the Tudor and Plantagenets! Finding the time is going to be the issue!
