This month I'll be hiding indoors away from any heatwaves and the angry wasps in our garden and concentrating on some reading. Authorfest is all about those new to me authors that I keep saying I'll try but never seem to get round to! I've selected a wide range to read in different genres but none of them are authors I've read before so it should be exciting! This is my list and I'll try to read as many as I can this month!
After a poor first week with only two read, this is my newest update which includes everything I've read or DNFed over the first half of the challenge. Red is for what I read in the first week, green in the second week, blue for the third and purple the fourth week. I've read 2 full novels, 2 novellas and DNFed 2 books. Better! I hadn't intended to read the second Murderbot novella this month but I liked the first and decided to squeeze the second one in!

Looking good. I started a book by Tim Waggoner last night so even though not intentional, now that you mention it, he is a new to me author.
ReplyDeleteI loved his Teeth of the Sea but wasn't keen on Necropolis. Hope you enjoy him!
DeleteI have tried several new authors. I see you are reading Martha Wells. I keep meaning to get started on her books.
ReplyDeleteI've really enjoyed the two Murderbot books! I love a robot with social anxieties!
DeleteHow did you find the Martha Wells books? :)
ReplyDelete(Also ugh, sorry, I've been missing your posts, I don't know what's up with Bloglovin!)
I haven't reviewed them yet due to my review backlog but I really enjoyed the first two! I LOVE Murderbot and how anxious it gets around humans! Looking forward to the next one...
DeleteI'm in a bit of a slump, I haven't read anything in over a week. The Murderbot novella's sound great, maybe I should try to read something short. I hope you'll enjoy all the other books on your list!
ReplyDeleteMurderbot might be a good place to start if you're in a slump. I loved the robot and its thoughts!
DeleteI managed to finish Alexandra Oliva's The Last One, but I didn't love it. The main character's deliberate obtuseness throughout really annoyed me. (I have a thing about stupid characters!) And I also didn't love the ending. So I can see why you DNFed it.
ReplyDeleteI hated that dumb female! She drove me bonkers!I think I quit just before halfway and that's because I felt generous I think! Her whole motivation bugged me too!
DeleteOh I love the idea of this project! There are so many authors that I think I need to read but I've never really sat down and made a list and focused on it quite like this! I'd love to join you but I don't think schedule wise it'll work. But if you do it again I'm definitely in!
ReplyDeleteI'm doing better with the challenge now. I'm planning to read all the non horror first to get those authors tried. That way if I don't fit in the horrors I can bump them easily to my October horrorfest! I haven't planned anything yet for my reading in November so perhaps another Authorfest then...
DeleteThat's starting to look nicely colourful :-)
ReplyDeleteI've had a couple of DNFs too
I'll be happy if plenty blue and purple appear! Still, each book is a step forward and a new author tried! DNFs can be handy if like me, you get over enthusiastic in the planned books list!
DeleteSorry, the only book/author I know on this list is Throne of Glass (which I loved!) but I had to comment on reading your welcome spiel.
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten how much I love the word cretin... Totally underrated word and rarely used south of the border. :( I've been living down south too long.
P.S - I'm also an UF loving Hufflepuff but I love 'the romance' more than I love any other type of book. ;)
Welcome fellow Hufflepuff! I might need to introduce my American followers to things like numpty and doughball! Insults for all occasions! Most of my books are Indie and self published so a lot will be unfamiliar to most readers. I kept meaning to try Throne of Glass because I love the covers! I might try that next...
DeleteI can't wait for you to read Throne of Glass. I don't know if you'll like it, but I hope so!
ReplyDeleteElle Inked @ Keep on Reading
I'm very unsure about it but it doesn't hurt to give it a try! I'm hoping to read it next.
DeleteEnjoy the event!! I've been hiding inside recently as well. It's just so darn hot and muggy where I live! It's painful to be outside.
ReplyDeleteI don't think us humans are designed for hot weather! It sounds like your weather is even worse than what we got here so you have my sympathy!
