August Authorfest Update 3

This month I'll be hiding indoors away from any heatwaves and the angry wasps in our garden and concentrating on some reading. Authorfest is all about those new to me authors that I keep saying I'll try but never seem to get round to! I've selected a wide range to read in different genres but none of them are authors I've read before so it should be exciting! This is my list and I'll try to read as many as I can this month!

After a poor first week with only two read, this is my newest update which includes everything I've read or DNFed over the first half of the challenge. Red is for what I read in the first week, green in the second week, blue for the third and purple the fourth week. I've read 2 full novels, 2 novellas and DNFed 2 books. Better! I hadn't intended to read the second Murderbot novella this month but I liked the first and decided to squeeze the second one in! Week 3 started well and I got a few squeezed in!

1) Sarah J Maas-Throne of Glass (DNF)
2) Christa Faust-Final Destination 3 (read)
3) John Randall-The Yellowstone Connundrum (DNF)
4) Orlando A Sanchez-Tombyards & Butterflies
5) Ernest Cline-Ready Player One (read)

  1. I have the first murderbot book out from the library and admit, I had trouble getting into it. However, I recognize the fact that it was probably totally me and want to give it another go!

    1. I hope you do enjoy it second time round! I'm not really into SF but I just loved poor Murderbot with all it's insecurities!

    1. It's not bas so far! If I can get the non horror books read by the end of the month, I'll be happy with that! The horrors can be bumped to October if I don't get to them.

    1. Thanks Sherry! I'd hoped to be further ahead but if I'm lounging in front of the TV I'm not reading so it's my own fault!

  4. oh 'm so glad to see I'm not the only one that DNF Throne of Glass! I always feel kinda of weird when I'm the only one LOL Can't wait for your reviews of My Lady Jane, All Systems Red and Illuminae. There have been on my TBR since forever!

    1. At last! Someone else who wasn't keen on it! I'd felt like I was the only one who hadn't tried it so I figured I should, despite my reservations about the love triangle! Yeah I just found it slow to get to the point of the thing. I'm hoping to finish My Lady Jane this weekend and get onto my next reads. I want to get at least three books read, hopefully more, by the end of the month! I'll slide the horror books back to September and October. I loved Murderbot!

    1. Yeah it started nicely but when they got to the island it was slow, trudging through the jungle with not much happening. I guess I expected a bit more action than I got in what I read of it.

    1. Ideally, I'd like to get the five non horror read this week but unless I DNF at least one it doesn't look likely. Still, it's more off the tbr so I mustn't complain!

  7. You're doing so well! I think I'll end up with a dozen, but two graphic novels and two DNFs, all of which are quickish reads!
