Books from the Backlog is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your bookshelf. You might be surprised by some of the unread books hiding in your stacks. Go to Carole's blog and add your blog post link in to join in the fun! Hosted by Carole at https://carolesrandomlife.blogspot.co.uk/
This seems like a fun feature and I have been planning to take part since Carole launched this so at last, here we go! I have a TON of unread books to choose from in various genres and I'm looking forward to sharing some of them with everybody.
There are monsters among us. There always have been and there always will be. I’ve known that since I can remember, just like I’ve always known I was one ... Well, half of one, anyway.
Welcome to New York City - a troll under the Brooklyn Bridge, a boggle in Central Park, and a beautiful vampire in a penthouse on the Upper East Side. Most humans are oblivious to the preternatural nightlife around them, but Cal Leandros is only half human.
His father’s dark lineage is the stuff of nightmares – and his entire otherworldly elf race are after Cal. His half brother, Niko, gave up college to keep them on the run for four years, but now the Grendel monsters are back. And Cal is about to learn why they want him. He is the key to unleashing their hell on earth. The fate of the human world will be decided in the fight of Cal’s life...
I actually read a third of this book and was loving it but got distracted for a reason I can't even remember and never got back to it. I bought this way back in May 2011 and read part of it in March 2012. With so many great reviews of it, it's shocking that I never got back to it! Maybe this year!
Oh, I hope you do get back to it! This series is brilliant, and the relationship between the brothers so complex.
ReplyDeleteIt'll be my next big series catchup I think! Hopefully I can get this Carrie Vaughn series read next month and then get on to other series!
DeleteI have actually read this one, Chuckles. I remember that the beginning was really great but I thought that much of the book was rather slow. It ended up being an okay read for me but I never continued with the series. I hope you like it a bit more than I did.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the warning! I do hope I end up liking it but if I don't, it clears books off the shelf so it's a win-win really!
DeleteI'm pretty sure I own this book somewhere on my shelves. It's from my urban fantasy mass market paperback days.
ReplyDeleteMost of this series are mass market then they seemed to stop doing them and the rest are the bigger size! It makes it hard to store them neatly on my bookshelves!
DeleteSounds like a great book. I haven't read this one. I have so many that I need to read for years ago. I have a bookcase full of them. =)
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to finish it!

There are just too many great sounding books out there! If I was a vampire I'd never get bored being immortal with all these books to read!
DeleteI wanted to read this series back int he day. It might even be on my Kindle?? I'll have to check.

I dread to think what is lurking on my ereader! I need to deal with this series and then Jennifer Estep's Elemental Assassin but that one is just so long!
Deletetrolls, boggles and vampires huh? I love all the things lurking around us unsuspected humans! LOL I hope you love it this second time around! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not even sure what caused me to stop reading it at the time but I hope I enjoy it this time round!
DeleteThis book is on my wish list and I will get to it.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I've gotten distracted like that even when the book is pretty good. Hoping you have a good time with it this go around.
I can't even think why I stopped reading it-it's baffling! It was before I started doing review books. Oh well, hopefully I'll still enjoy it!
DeleteOh I have a few books like that. I need to make more of an effort to get back to them! This sounds interesting - if any place has creatures hiding in the shadows it's New York!
ReplyDeleteI got into a habit of trying a first book in a series to see if I'd want to continue with it then switching to multiple other first books. In the end it left me having started tons of series and not catching up with any! Now I'm playing catchup when each series is going into double figures!
DeleteI love memes like this for that very reason. I lose track of a book! This sounds interesting and that cover is killer.
ReplyDeleteI dread to think what else is lurking on my ereader! I like this feature because I have to keep going through my Goodreads shelves and I find books there I've wanted to read for ages!
DeleteI've been tempted to try these- I like more uncommon creatues like boggles, so when they show up in UF it often gets my interest!
ReplyDeleteI bought a lot of these series back when I first discovered urban fantasy. It's shocking that it is taking me so long to read them! I also enjoy books with different monsters.
DeleteThis sounds like a wonderful read, I do enjoy reading a good book with vampires. I've never heard of this series, I will have to add it to my list. I hope you enjoy it even more when you read it this time around.
ReplyDeleteI hope we both enjoy it! I could do with a few good urban fantasy series in my life right now!
