Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish
in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of
2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to
bring bookish friends together. http://www.thatartsyreadergirl.com/top-ten-tuesday/

This week it is about auto-buy authors. These are authors that I always wanted to see new books from or that I buy most!
1) Hunter Shea
I haven't loved every book I've tried but the really great ones makes me want to buy the new ones when they come out. I really loved his early horror like Swamp Monster Massacre, They Rise...and I have a few of his to read this summer.
2) Patricia Briggs
I auto-buy the new books in her two wolf series-Aplha & Omega, and Mercy Thompson. She has other series that I haven't actually tried yet but they are more fantasy based and I'm not sure whether they are for me. So yes to wolf auto-buys!
3) Darrell Maloney
I currently have seven apocalypse series by him, varying in length-aesteroid strike, solar flare, EMP, pandemic, Yellowstone eruption... I've read the first book in three of the series and gave them each 5 stars so I'll always buy what he writes. I really need to catch up with all of them!
4) Robert Boren
I stumbled upon his Bug Out series by accident and loved that all the heroes were over 45 years old, some in their 70's or more. Since then he has done two full spin off series set in Texas and California and there appears to be a new one set in New York starting! *fist pump*
5) Richard Laymon
I bought everything he wrote and while some were better than others, I always wanted to buy each new one that came out. I was gutted to hear of his early death in his forties when he had so many more stories to share.
6) Rick Chesler
He writes horror books about everything-moon monsters, sawfish, dinosaurs, yeti, sharks...I always go to grab a new creature feature when he releases them. I have a couple still to read and I'm saving them for later this summer and autumn!
7) Philippa Gregory
I really enjoy her Tudor and Plantagenet books as well as the brilliant Wideacre. I like her twists on the Tudor facts and fictions and have a whole shelf of her books waiting for a full in order read and reread so I can rewrite my reviews.
8) Jean Plaidy
I like her simple story and characters are nicely developed. I've got most if not all of her Tudor books, a few Plantagenets and Stuarts, a few Queens of England and her Victoria series. Still quite a few to try and a lot maybe to buy! Too many to really auto-buy but I did
9) Jack Kilborn
I think I have most of his horror books and I've loved the four I've read so far. Plan to get to Origin and The List next. Have a few currently on my horror shelf waiting to be read! Hoping for more to add to the pile!
10) Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice & Fire
Not quite auto-buy author, but I do grab most books I can read connected to the series and all of GRRM's releases for the series. I have my eye on a few new behind the scenes books coming out by October, The Winds of Winter and the next volume of Fire and Blood!

You have some really good authors there.
ReplyDeleteToo many good authors...my bookshelves can't keep up with it all!
DeleteI love Patricia Briggs' wolf series, too. :D
ReplyDeleteI love how different both series are. In A&O, I think Brother Wolf could be my ideal man!
DeleteI don't know most of these authors but I've heard so many great things about the first two - especially Patricia Briggs. And of course Game of Thrones!
ReplyDeleteAlways lots of Indie authors on my lists! I love the two wolf series by Briggs-I have a big of reading catchup to do with those!
DeleteI used to have so many auto-buy authors but very few deliver consistently anymore so I'd have problems witht his list.
ReplyDeleteI have auto- I will check the book out further authors lol
Karen @ For What It's Worth
For me it is always auto-check to ensure a new series by that author sounds good before I dive in! I had to tweak the list for that reason!
DeleteCan you imagine how the world will blow up haha when he announces The Winds of Winter? It'll be like a national holiday- well at least for some of us. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going a bit crazy waiting for it! The second I receive it I'll be reading it as I loved the events of season six and can't wait to see the written version!
DeleteI only have a few auto buy authors. Christine Feehan is one of them. I love her books.
ReplyDeleteMaybe auto buy should've been auto check or regularly buy! I had to tweak things a little as even authors I love produce series I don't want to read!
DeletePhillippa Gregory is someone I have seen around quite a bit, and her historicals look really interesting.
ReplyDeleteI love her Tudor and Plantagenet books and Wideacre!
DeleteI like many of these too. I need to read Boren's books!
ReplyDeleteStart with the original Bug Out series. He wrote Bug Out Texas and Bug Out California at the same time and now he's starting a whole new one on the east coast! So excited!
DeleteHunter Shea made my list as well and I could have easily added Patricia Briggs. I beat myself up all day yesterday for forgetting to add Kelley Armtstrong after seeing her on several other sites.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of Kelley Armstrong series still to try so I left her off the list as there are a couple I didn't like too. I always check out her new releases even if I don't buy them.
DeleteI love the Alpha and Omega series but I've yet to read Mercy Thompson.
ReplyDeletePhillipa Gregory is another good one.
I just love Brother Wolf-he is so cool! I like how different both wolf series are and they are both great!
DeleteI'd forgotten about Jean Plaidy! I used to love her books and think it's probably time I gave them another read. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of her books still to read! Quite a few still to buy as well...
DeleteArgh! I STILL haven't read any Hunter Shea! One of these days I'm going to finally change that!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm planning to read The Montauk Monster this week!
