Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

Time for another roundup! At the moment I'm hiding indoors until the heatwave has gone and it has been terrible at night trying to get any sleep. Just walking from room to room is leaving me tired and sweating. It's horrible! Oh how I long for cooler autumn days and a bite in the air when winter comes! I'm spending my time trying to do my blogging and ensuring that I get plenty of reading done. It has been another good reading week, working my way through the reading list I constructed for the summer. I feel motivated, which is unusual for summer for me and I'm taking full advantage of it!

I did buy a few more cheap political books this week. I love these political memoirs and diaries. In fact my collection is so big now that last night I had to rearrange my bookshelves. That was a riot on legs when it was so hot and I was sweating to death by the time I got it done, but I'm much happier with how it all looks. My political and history books are now all together where I have easy access to all of them. My urban fantasy books are now in the smaller bookcase and I'm happy with the new arrangement for now!

Films & TV
I've been glued to the TV the last couple of days watching the political stuff as we get a new Conservative Leader and Prime Minister. I love all that stuff. Also watching England take on Ireland in their first ever Test Match for the cricket. I've also done two film reviews.

A good reading week! I got a few books read, one that I selected last week-Space Sharks. Silly but fun! I also DNFed a few but it gets them off the TBR so that's ok. For this week, I really want to get a nice pile of reading done. I'm looking to read a Jaye Wells short story that I didn't know existed from the Sabina Kane series. Hopefully read that tonight! Then I think I'll do some dinosaurs...

  1. It's been terribly hot where we live too and no rain at all for almost 2 weeks now. Hopefully it will get better for both of us soon. Enjoy your new books and happy reading.

    1. Ugh your situation sounds horrible! Today it is certainly cooler and I finally got a decent night's sleep but the summer can't end soon enough for me! Have a great reading week!

  2. Stay cool! That was us last weekend. MISERABLE!!! But I did sit on the couch and read most of the time so it wasn't a total loss. Cryptid Country looks awesome. Hope you enjoy your dinosaurs.

    1. It has been a week of dinosaurs and sharks which is always fun! This week is going to be pure horror so that should be great! Cryptid Zoo was fun so I hope this sequel is good!

  3. The heat is really bad here too but thankfully we have a window AC in the bedroom.

    1. AC is costly to put in and run so I have to do without. It's been miserable! I have located my desk top fan so that is getting set up!

  5. It's actually not too bad here temp wise and I've really been enjoying it because last week was brutal! Rearranging bookshelves is always fun though I imagine the heat did make it miserable. Hope next week is cooler!

    1. I should never do stuff like that when it is so muggy! Yeuch! Still, it's done and I'm happier with the layout now.

  6. We dropped down to mid-20s on Friday so I'm a much happier girl! I can handle mid-20s... And the nights are around 14/15c so that's lovely for sleeping with a light blanket!
I'm still 100% not up to any strenuous tasks though so I'd have ignored the book cases but well done for tackling them!

    1. I seem to get twitchy about things like wanting to change the bookcases and I can't seem to settle until the job is done! It's still so hot up here UGH!

  8. It's steamy here and not even August yet! At least I managed to enjoy the pool some this week. Cryptid Country has a wicked cover. I'll be watching to see what you think of it.

    1. I hope this weather isn't going to last all through August here! I'm losing the will to eat, cook and clean!

  9. I just realized that Cryptid Country is the next in the zoo series. The first book was a blast so I went ahead and ordered it!

    1. I'm hoping it is as good as Cryptid Zoo! There is also a Cryptid Island by the author which might be a prequel...

  10. I hate summer, but at least we are used to this garbage weather. Hang in there, try to stay cool, and countdown to the fall.

  11. It's cooled down a lot here -- have you been lucky like us? I actually needed to sleep under the covers last night (at least with the window open).

    1. It's warm and stuffy during the day which is making me grumpy. It cools a little at night but I'm still struggling to sleep!
