I have no idea who started this book tag so I can't credit you, sorry! I'm pretty sure I've done this tag before but I saw it again on Bookstooge's blog at https://bookstooge.wordpress.com/ and it seemed a good excuse to do it again!
1) GREED
What is the most expensive book you own? Which is the least expensive?
I did buy this gorgeous set of Harry Potter hardback books despite already having the same paperback set. They are so gorgeous and I like the presentation box. I did get it in the Black Friday sale a few years back so I didn't pay full price!
At the moment, this is probably my biggest expense. It cost about £50 I think but is selling at close to £400 online. It is a huge heavy encyclopedia and I loved it!
I've picked up a ton of books free over the years, way too many to list for the least expensive.
2) GLUTTONY
What book or books have you shamelessly devoured many times?
I've lost count of how many times I've read this book. I never get tired of it and it would be one of my desert island books! I'm on to my fourth copy of the book as I keep wearing it out!
3) LUST
What attributes do you find most attractive in your characters?
The most important thing is that I like them! I like female characters that can try to outwit a serial killer, investigate a mystery, go on the run, deal with an apocalypse without whining about broken nails, being obsessed with their looks and fashion choices, falling in love, or waiting for a man to rescue them! They don't all need to be kick ass but they need to be non whiny and not brainless bimbos! I like male characters who are smart and funny like Tyrion Lannister, tough but not macho morons, brave but not self obsessed with a hero complex and good leadership qualities without being a dictator! No stupid muppets!
4) ENVY
What books would you most like to receive as a gift?
I have a big wish list of books so I'm always happy to get stuff from that! At the moment I want these new expensive Game of Thrones behind the scenes books coming out soon, The Goblet of Fire illustrated edition, The bloody Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring!
5) PRIDE
What book or books do you bring up when you want to sound like an intellectual reader?
I find the question pretty dumb. I talk about what I read with my dad or my online friends. I review what I read honestly. I'm sharing book talk, not showing off to others or trying to prove something. I couldn't care less about being seen as an intellectual reader.
Chuckles alternate question:
What books in your collection are you most proud of?
My gorgeous Song of Ice & Fire collection. I love looking at the covers of the published books! I love my HBO behind the scenes books, my illustrated A Game of Thrones, my pop up Westeros book, The World of Ice & Fire, Fire and Blood, and I look forward to new big book releases of more behind the scenes stuff this year!
6) SLOTH
What book or series have you neglected out of sheer laziness?
I have quite a few series that are pretty long and it is taking me an age to get motivated to plough through them! I WANT to read them but there are so many! Jennifer Estep's Elemental Assassin series could be heading for 20 books, Dirk Patton's Voodoo Plague has finished on 19, Darrell Maloney's Final Dawn is at 16 books, his Countdown to Armageddon series ended at 13, Robert Boren's Bug Out Texas and California stand at 13 and 15 each, Philippa Gregory's Plantagenet and Tudor books are a big series that I still have to complete...I want to read them all but the number of books is daunting!
7) WRATH
What author do you have a love/hate relationship with?
Frankly there is no love in any of these author relationships! There are certain authors that I've just never liked however many books I've tried. This list of popular authors includes Patrick Ness, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Holly Black, Seanan McGuire, Gregory Maguire, Chuck Palahniuk, Philip Pullman, John Saul, Alice Sebold, Ian Woodhead...
I loved that opening pix you had. It made my morning!
ReplyDeleteAs for gluttony, you certainly picked a big enough book for it :-)

When I thought about a pic to depict sin, it seemed pretty perfect! IT is certainly a big book to continually devour!
DeleteI love your answer for PRIDE. I agree wholeheartedly!

DeleteThose Harry Potter books are beautiful! If I splurged on a book, it would be Harry Potter. My copies are falling apart.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I can never resist a Harry Potter set!
DeleteI do miss having beautiful physical books to look at. One day there might be space again for a lovely Harry Potter set like yours. It seems to already have been an excellent investment!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't do without my physical books around me-I find them so comforting!
DeleteIt's so frustrating to not like an author everyone else seems to adore. I have this problem with Jodi Piccoult. Everyone who reads women's fiction seems to think she's amazing but her books make me ranty. Of your list the only one I've read is Gaiman and while I like him I can see why you wouldn't. His style is very much his own and I can see it just not working for some people. Harry Potter has all the best book merch. I'm not even the biggest fan and I would cheerfully pay ridiculous amounts for some of the gorgeous sets and side books. Totally worth it. Great tag!
ReplyDeleteThere's a ton of Game of Thrones and Harry Potter merch that I'd love to buy if I had the money! I'm so picky about my genres so I don't have much contact now with the popular authors everyone loves. Probably a good thing!
Delete100% agree with your Pride answer! I'll never understand why people feel the need to lie about what they read to 'sound smart', it's just stupid.
ReplyDeleteI can't be bothered with people like that at all!
DeleteI love this so much! And splurging on a great HP collection is TOTALLY justified!! <3
ReplyDeleteI think so too! Harry Potter is something I like to splurge out on-along with Game of Thrones!
