Top Ten Tuesday-Early Indie Book Reviews #1

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.  http://www.thatartsyreadergirl.com/top-ten-tuesday/

NB: I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow them to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account.

I've been reviewing my books since I was at school so there is no way I can remember the first ten I reviewed, and the same with Goodreads plus I don't have the energy to look it up. I'll go with some of the early Indie books I reviewed in my first blogging year.

  1. There's some excellent star ratings here! Did you pick books you remembered being good for this post?
I've noticed I'm a lot more critical now that I was when I first started seriously reviewing

    1. These are certainly all books that I liked and all were reviewed after a free copy from authors on Goodreads groups. I'll be doing a few more posts like this soon. I've certainly never shied away from being critical!

    1. Most of the books I read are Indie so they aren't well known. I guess I'm still trying to change that!

  3. I still need to read Carnival of Fear. I know I grabbed it after seeing it here on your blog. This is one of my go-to blogs for indie book news!

    1. I so much want to go and re-read Carnival of Fear but I need to get to other stuff first!

    1. I really enjoyed that one! I'd love to see it as a TV mini series or something!

  5. I get having to just pick a way to approach this topic. I have a lot of reviews from before I was blogging, but I wasn't consistent, and some of the reviews are as little as two words. That's an impressive list of Indies up there.

    1. This was during my read and review phase where I was constantly responding on groups to review requests from authors! I did read a lot of good ones at that time. I'll be doing another list of more Indies for TTT in two weeks!

  6. A lot of these are new to me. I've went back and read some of my first review. They were a lot longer than what I write now. LOL

    1. I'd never heard of any of these books until I agreed to review them for the authors but I did get some good ones!

  7. It's interesting to see how our reading tastes and review styles change over the years.

    1. I was reading a ton of YA in 2013/2014! I sort of fell out of love with the genre as I ploughed through a few bad Twilight imitations and then got heavily back into horror!

  8. Wow, I don't even know the first book I reviewed. I would have to check out goodreads and maybe amazon. They would know....right?

    1. Yeah you can change the filters on your Goodreads pages to put them in order of when you added them to your account and so on. I don't know about Amazon as I don't review there now!

  9. My early reviews went poof. Before GR & my blog I reviewed for a blog that disappeared. :( That taught me to always save a copy and post them multiple places.

    1. Goodreads seems to delete my reviews on a regular basis and I have to retrieve a copy from the blog to put up to replace it!

  10. I like that you went with the Indie books. That was a cool pick. And it's hard to remember back to the firsts.
