Chuckles Weekend Roundup

Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!

Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!
****************
It has been another week of frustrations and feeling tired. I gritted my teeth and got the rest of the fence on the neighbour's side done despite some dodgy weather being about. I'm pleased to get it out of the way. Now we can do two coats on our side of the two fences at leisure though I want to get started on that maybe next week. The varnish really lets the natural look of the wood come through and looks better than those horrible shades of fence paint in the shops! I am suffering a bit for the work but I feel I'm making progress which is good. It does mean that I haven't read anything again this week which is frustrating but I'm just too tired as we have been doing stuff in the house too.

No dentist appointments this week but I've still been stressed out dealing with Amazon. I ordered next day delivery which I rarely do, but did this time to get the tin of varnish in ready for the next stage of work but after two days of it being nowhere to be seen, they finally admitted that it was out of stock. Why are they offering next day delivery on something they don't have???!!! It's enough to make you scream! I still have no idea when it will be delivered as they don't seem to want to tell me. Grr. Amazon is getting lazy with the customer service again but I get a lot of things from them especially my books so I'm kind of stuck with them.

PAPERBACKS

This week I got some published fan fiction from Nicholas Sansbury Smith's Extinction series and it is Meg's story!

I got three chapters of the next Jaye Wells book done in my series catchup which is not impressive. I really hope to get moving and back into my reading soon.

  1. Sounds like the fence is really coming along. I haven't read much this week and need to get some done this weekend. I get off at 3pm Friday but had to start at 6:30am so I could leave for an hour and take Booker to get bloodwork- ugggh. Amazon does kind of have the market cornered don't they?

    1. Well, getting the neighbour's side done to protect the wood before the house is sold means we don't need to venture into their side now to do anything. It is a relief and there is no time constraint on getting our side done! I would like to start this week though and get it out of the way. Good luck with Booker T's test results!

  2. Sorry about the Amazon problems, but congrats on getting the fence done! Sometimes my Amazon stuff takes forever to ship, and I never know why. Have a great week!

    1. We're a third of the way through the fence work now. I just want it over! Weather looks a bit iffy this week though!

  3. Good job getting one side of the fence done. And I'm sorry Amazon is being so stinky.

    1. I'm pleased to get that done before the house sells. Now on to the rest of it! The good news is that the guys who put up the fence are happy to do all the heavy work in the garden at a good price so my dad and I don't have to do it!

  4. I've found Amazon is very sketchy with their deliveries these days. So many times I've ordered what is supposed to be 2 day delivery and get updates, well after the fact, that it won't arrive for at least a week. And this is with prime.

    1. It was meant to arrive Wednesday and Amazon still think it hasn't been dispatched yet and is lost somewhere. I'm so not impressed and I've cancelled the order now and bought the varnish from another seller instead. When I had a trial of prime, the first three orders all arrived late so I swore never to get it!

  5. Well at least the fence is coming along. I stopped buying most anything from Amazon except for books because I just don't care for them anymore.

    1. Progress is being made slowly but it is getting done which pleases me! Recently Amazon have been really bad for items coming late but I guess I'll need to put up with it as I'm not big on online shopping in general!

  6. Oh I hate when that happens! I'm always disappointed when I order expensive shipping from any place. It always seems like something happens. Good job getting the fence done! That's some serious work!

    1. It drives me crazy to get really bad customer service! I'm only a third of the way through the work on the fence so there is plenty work still to do!

  7. Sucks about the varnish! I hope they at least refunded the next day delivery charge seeing as it wasn't delivered next day?

    1. Yeah I made sure it was refunded the next day-I never let them away with that! My complaints did earn me a £10 credit so I treated myself to two books with it!

  8. I agree. They should NOT be offering next day delivery for something that is out of stock. I would be frustrated too. At least the fence is looking ood.

    1. It is so stupid isn't it! How can they deliver if it isn't in stock! I have cancelled the order now as there is still no progress with the order. Plonkers!

  9. It sometimes seems that work around the house will never end. I guess it really doesn't. We have done a primer coat in the bathroom to get the walls ready to paint but now the my husband has lost his job, we aren't going to be spending any money that isn't absolutely necessary so no paint. My bathroom looks horrible, Chuckles! Oh well. I hope you get the fence taken care of soon so you can move on to more relaxing endeavors.

    1. It doesn't end at all. I know that feeling! After we varnish this fence, we have the older fences that seperate us from the other neighbours to paint red! We are hoping to get the fence guys to do the heavy garden work like weeding depending on cost. Even the varnish and paint are so expensive to buy, it's crazy. I'm sorry that you won't be able to do your bathroom yet. It must be such a tough time for you guys. I'm keeping everything crossed for Mr Carole to get a job really soon.

  10. It doesn't make any sense to offer next day on something they don't even have. Bad on their part. And I need to start the Extinction series. It's next on my list of hsi series to read.

    1. It seems stupid doesn't it! It was obviously going to end up with an irate customer! I did get a £10 voucher from them for my trouble so that was something! I hope you enjoy the Extinction Cycle series! I loved it!

  11. Amazon can be such a pain in the butt -- it's so difficult to actually get to a real human to talk to, as well! Grrr at them.

  12. I totally agree with you on Amazon. How is two day shipping taking a week. They are ripping us off. I have found a lot of the things I would buy from them on other sites cheaper or faster delivery. Amazon is going to be a thing of the past soon if they keep that crap up.

    1. Amazon have been really bad for late packages recently and for saying sorry that something is late or missing when it was delivered weeks ago!
