This is Scifi Month so I'll be bringing you a few posts through the month, sharing the best SF and dystopian books I've read, and the books that are on my TBR, waiting to be read. First topic is Books Set On Other Planets, moons and in space itself so please share your recommendations in the comments so I can find more to read! I'd love to find more planets with deadly beasts and murderers/creatures roaming the ship killing people kind of plots!
BOOKS I'VE READ

Some of the books on your TBR are also on my shelf. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Illuminae. I've put off reading it for so long!
ReplyDeleteI'm worried about Illuminae as I'm not a fan of these email, reports, diary entry type formats but I do like the sound of the plot. This is a must read this month!
DeleteThe only one here I've read is HitchHikers! I think the last other world books I read were both Tiffany Tsao's The Oddfits and The More Known World. Both ingenious and inventive and very odd!

I tended to go more for the dystopian novel than the true scifi as my reading shows! I'd like to read more about planets with deadly life forms and things hunting through spaceships!
DeleteI'm very hot or miss with sci-fi so I'll be interested to see your posts. I've heard great things about the Martha Wells books but haven't picked one up yet.
ReplyDeleteThe Murderbot books are so much fun! I've never been huge with Scify books but I am branching out a little!
DeleteI'm waiting on Exit Strategy from the library. I'm so glad you told me there will be more Murderbot!

I was really excited to hear about the novel coming out in 2020 though that is ages away!
DeleteThose Eric S. Brown books look really fun, as do Domus and Extinction. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI've already read and enjoyed the ones you mentioned. I need to find more like that...
DeleteI still love that cover of dinosaur Planet. So deliciously old school! And I think you should read Contagion- that one gets freaky!
ReplyDeleteDinosaur Planet was ok but not greatly exciting. The follow up is pretty dull so far and I just want to get it finished and move on! I do plan to read Contagion at some point but need to get the paperbacks dealt with first!
DeleteI don't read a ton of sci-fi. I did enjoy the Murderot series quite a bit and the Red Rising trilogy was also well done.
ReplyDeleteA lot of people who don't read Scifi seem to enjoy Murderbot! Sadly I couldn't fit in Red Rising this month as I do want to read it!
DeleteThat looks like a lot of great stuff coming up the pipeline!

There's only six on the list I haven't read yet and I hope to get them done this month with any luck...
DeleteThat's a great list of books. I loved Murderbot books from your list and love the alien movies, but haven't tried the books.
ReplyDeleteMurderbot is just great! The Alien books were pretty true to the films and were decent reads but I prefer the films!
DeleteSasquatch and dinosaurs have their own planets? Love it. So many good looking books.

I love this kind of plot and need to find more like these!
