Welcome to my feature Chuckles Weekend Roundup where I will be looking at what books I've received, anything interesting I've done or bought or watched and other random stuff. I'll be taking a look back at what happened in my blogging world too, sort of like The Sunday Post that some of you do!
Please note that I'll be visiting your STS/SP as normal, but I don't follow or leave comments on blogs run by Google Plus, or DISQUS as I refuse to join something just to leave comments, and I won't allow DISQUS to follow new people, update my profile or post tweets 'on my behalf'. I am the only one who does that on my social media! I won't comment on any blog that makes me sign in using another account. Sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me because I deleted my account with them but I will persevere as it only happens the odd time!

It has been a long week. The weather is hot and clammy with little air getting in the windows and we haven't been sleeping well because of it. It's not the ideal weather for continuing our spring cleaning as you can imagine. We're both pretty tired and fed up with it but we are making good progress. We'll need to build a new cupboard for food storage and find new homes for some of the stuff which will be the last stage for now. However we've decided we are going to have a break for a whole week before we get on with the last stage. It is going to be a week of chilling out in front of the tv, reading and not doing work!
It hasn't stopped me getting some books of course! Gord Rollo is new to me and although I have other Greig Beck books on my ereader I haven't tried his stuff yet. Had to also grab a few apocalypse books while I was browsing.

Chuckles Blogging World
Somehow I managed to keep on top of comments and blog visits this week but next week I'm having a total break. Long lies in my bed, lazing around and doing virtually nothing. With plenty still to do today, I need to do a quick version of my blog roundup.

I haven't had much energy to read so I read nothing this week! I do plan to catch up with the last of the short stories and serial novels I still have to look at and then get back to horror but I haven't picked out any specific books yet.
See you next weekend!!!

I haven't had much energy to read so I read nothing this week! I do plan to catch up with the last of the short stories and serial novels I still have to look at and then get back to horror but I haven't picked out any specific books yet.
See you next weekend!!!
I think I need a copy of Crimson. I've not seen that book before or even heard of the author. It's been hot and muggy here this week too. I'm glad the home projects are going well. Keep up the good work but yes, definitely take a break!
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled across the author by accident-I saw one of his books on a blog recently and figured why not! It is so warm here-lower temps than you guys get-but boy do I feel slothy, overheated and grumpier than usual! I'm catching up on comments and visits today then it is a break!
DeleteIt’s been really hot here, too. Luckily it’s been raining a lot at night, so my neighbor hasn’t dragged his TV into the yard yet. Once that happens, I won’t get much sleep. He watches really loud TV all night. I hope you enjoy your new books!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Your neighbour sounds like a total nightmare! The street beside ours has the junkies and the people fighting occasionally but they don't generally affect us too much. You really do have my sympathy.
DeleteI enjoyed the Alex Hunter series by Beck and was pretty happy with how it wrapped up. Beck chose the right path of not doing an endless series of adventures that just kept getting bigger, thankfully.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly does sound like an interesting series-a bit different from my usual reads but I want to find something different to switch to sometimes. I'm glad you liked these!
DeleteGood luck with the cleaning once you resume it. A week to do nothing but read sounds heavenly. School is out for the summer so I have all this time to spend with my daughter, and we will definitely be reading and visiting all our favorite libraries and museums for the next two and a half months!
ReplyDeleteI'm putting that off until next week now! My knees and back need a holiday after my holiday! Sounds like you are going to have a lot of fun this summer!
DeleteI can't believe that it is already so warm. I hope you get some more comfortable weather soon. It sounds like you and your dad deserve a break. Have a nice week relaxing and recovering from all of your work!
ReplyDeleteIt has cooled down a bit today at last which is great but I'm not looking forward to the storm coming in later this week! Talk about extremes!
DeleteOoh Crimson looks good! And Brace for Impact (love that title). Sorry to hear the weather's been so hot! We were too, with temps in the 90's for several days, although today was thankfully cooler. I get over summer pretty quick when it gets obnoxiously hot lol.
ReplyDeleteEek, 90 degrees might finish me off!!! I'm always glad when the hot spells are over. Crimson does sound very good doesn't it? I need to get some kind of theme going to get me focused on my reading again. Not sure what I feel like doing yet though...
DeleteWow! You are really getting some serious cleaning up and cleaning out done. Enjoy your break! It's definitely sounds like you've earned it! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI certainly needed the break! Pity I can't magic away the growing pile of ironing that needs doing!
DeleteEnjoy your break! I've been on a bit of a break myself lately, although not intentional. It's hard when life gets hectic.
ReplyDeleteA nice rest is just what we need from time to time! I guess it reminds us that blogging should be fun and not stressful!
DeleteYou have some scary book covers this week. I love it. I really want to get Valley of the Scarecrow just for the darn cover! Great book haul! Hope all is well!
ReplyDeleteMary
I love creepy scarecrow kind of things and I need to find more of them. And some more scary clowns!
DeleteIt sounds like you guys are definitely due for a break! Have a restful week off!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out more active than I expected but I did enjoy it. It is always nice to be back home though.
DeleteI hope you're enjoying your lazy week!
ReplyDeleteIt's ridiculously hot most afternoons here so I don't feel like doing much either :-)
I'm actually glad I wasn't stuck in my house all week during that hot spell as I might have melted! It was hot on holiday but at least being out in a fresh sea breeze was nice!
DeleteEh, why clean when you can spend time reading? That's my motto, anyway :)
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which I'm going to need to get back into my reading especially after buying a new pile!
DeleteEverything ok, Chuckles?! Or are you just taking a much needed break?
ReplyDeleteJust came back on Sunday from holiday!
DeleteHow's the week off been? :D Imagine my surprise to visit today and see no new posts from you!
ReplyDeleteI'll soon be making up for it! It was a great week on an unexpected holiday!
