Top Ten Tuesday-On TBR the longest

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. http://www.thatartsyreadergirl.com/top-ten-tuesday/

This week it is all about the books that have been unread on out TBR the longest. Erk, I might get a fright by a few of these! These books were added to Goodreads in 2010 but may have beenbought earlier as this was only when I started keeping track!

1) Michael Dobbs-House of Cards
Loved the UK TV series and bought the book trilogy but never got round to it. I haven't got it in my reading list for this year but I'll fit it in at the end of the year if I can or have it on next year's list.

2) Richard Laymon-Amara/Night in the Lonesome October
I bought these when they were released and plan to read them this year. I didn't read them straight away as Richard Laymon had died and I didn't want to be finished with his books as no more books would come. Silly, I know!

3) John J Nance-Turbulence
I read one of his aircraft thrillers and loved it, so I bought a pile and never read them. I think it is the size of the books which put me off a bit but I really need to make time for them next year. I like the sound of this one.

4) Jim Dwyer-102 Minutes
I have a few of these 9/11 non fiction books waiting to be read and again I need to make an effort to read them next year.

5) Jeffery Deaver-The Empty Chair
I loved the first Lincoln Rhyme book and grabbed the rest in a charity shop at the time. I read the second book but then went on holiday and never got back to the series. I'm not a crime fan but I'm keen to read these books. Maybe next year?

6) Carrie Vaughn-Kitty Norville
This was sitting on my shelves for ages and I have actually started reading the series this year, finishing the first as a re-read a few days into January. I really do have to finish with this series in 2018!

7) DD Barant-Bloodhound Files
I really enjoyed the first book in the series when I read it but moved on to read something else and just never got back to it. If I get time I'd love to catch up with it this year but if not it is top of my list for 2019!

8) Anatoli Boukreev-The Climb
Having read Into Thin Air I was keen to read other books by climbers involved in that Everest disaster. This is one that I haven't got round to reading but I really do want to read it and get his side of the story.

9) Margaret Campbell Barnes-My Lady of Cleves
I very much liked another book by the author and it took a while to track the rest down online. I'm looking forward to this one as not much is written about Anne of Cleves and I'm keen to see how the author writes about her.

10) Julia Fox-Jane Boleyn
I think I overdosed on Tudor non fiction and this one got left behind. I find her one of the most fascinating Tudor women and would still like to read this but fiction takes priority at the moment so she'll have to wait.

  1. I have some of the Bloodhound Files books and also some of the Kitty ones. I want to read Amara this year too but need to order a copy first. I remember first seeing it on your blog. Good luck getting to these - I'm sure you will.

    1. I might get to them all eventually! I'm enjoying Kitty and hope to be finished with them in March. I must get those final two Laymon books looked at soon! The first DD Barant was a 5 star read for me so it's criminal that I haven't read the rest yet!

  2. I hope you get a chance to read all these! I don’t own any unread books that have been sitting around for a long time, but I do have some on my to-read list that have been there for years.

Aj @ Read All The Things!

  5. I love Richard Laymon and have a couple of his books on my shelf still for that reason alone. Also, I've only read the first two Kitty Norville books, but they're really great.

Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thanks!

    1. I was unsure whether to continue with Kitty after book three but I've enjoyed the rest that I've read so I'm glad I did. I hope to finish it by sometime in March!

  6. I've not read any of these books. My husband is a big Deaver fan and he's probably read that one. I read Into Thin Air and loved it, but didn't read The Climb. Think I might have read a book or two by John J Nance, but not Turbulence.

    1. Those Nance books look so big and intimidating! That has put me off a bit! I love these mountain expedition books and I've read a lot books on that 1996 Everest Disaster but not this one yet.

  7. Ah, two books I have read! 102 Minutes and Jane Boleyn.

I bawled through most of 102 minutes, as I usually do when I read anything about 9/11. I emailed Dwyer after I finished the book to ask him about Welles Crowther, who was later identified as the young man in the red bandanna who was referred to in the book and he actually responded, saying that had not had that info at publication time. I was also constantly flipping back and forth to scan the list of victims to correspond with the particular story.

    1. I find the 9/11 documentaries heartbreaking to watch but I keep watching them anyway. I look forward to reading this book at some point. Jane Boleyn just fascinates me so I should've read this by now!

  8. Ooh, some of these look so good. I'll have to add them to my TBR. I think I read the first Kitty one ages ago, and I kind of forgot about it. So thanks for reminding me!

    1. Yeah the House of Cards book is based on the British TV series which I loved. I'm addicted to the Tudors but generally read more of the fiction stuff.
