Welcome to my Game of Thrones Gossip,
where us fanatics get the chance to discuss everything we love
about this amazing TV series. I
decided to do a whole series of these discussion posts that let us say
everything we want and enjoy every second of it! Please feel free to comment fully and without restriction!
I have to warn you that it is important that you have seen all six seasons before reading any of these posts because these posts and blogger comments will be exploding spoilers all over the place. If you haven't watched the series and plan to, be warned that it's a bad idea to be here right now! I take no responsibility if you read on and things are spoiled for you.
Now I'm looking at the main characters introduced in season three, what our season two characters were doing and looking at all the bests bits. Enjoy the season three posts!
Cersei's relationships begin to deteriorate with her family as this season goes on. It starts with fighting with Tyrion with Cersei certain that Tyrion plans to start telling tales on her to their father now that Tywin is in King's Landing. It continues at dinner with Joffrey, Loras and Margaery when she hears that the latter stopped to visit the poor and is critical of her lack of concern over the security of herself and Joffrey. Joffrey is scathing of his mother and takes Margaery's side, causing Cersei to fear the control that his new wife-to-be is already asserting over him, and her own influence is further reduced. All attempts by Cersei to be critical of her to Joffrey fall on deaf ears. It reaches a head when the nervous Joffrey allows Margaery to lead him out to greet the gathering crowds, and his joy at being cheered by them for once seals her hold over him.
Cersei tries complaining about the Tyrells to Tywin, who rejects her concerns. He indicates that he is pleased that Margaery is going to keep Joffrey in line, something he feels that Cersei was never able to do. She is basically told to shut up and stop causing trouble in the Tyrell Lannister alliance. She is still determined to prove that the Tyrells have too much power at Court and is handed the perfect weapon when Littlefinger tells her that Sansa is to be married to Loras after the Royal Wedding takes place. Cersei is feeling smug about her dealings when Tywin tells Tyrion that he is to marry Sansa, gloating about how angry Tyrion is about the plan. Her joy turns to fury when she is informed that she will marry Loras to stop the rumours about her and Jaime. Cersei is horrified at the prospect of another loveless marriage.
Cersei is unable to hide her anger or her feelings towards Margaery, reminding her what happened to House Reyne when they got too big for their boots and started challenging the control of House Lannister. She makes it clear to Margaery how she really feels about House Tyrell, startling her with her venom. Cersei does try to intervene at Tyrion's wedding by telling him his place was with Margaery and not tormenting Sansa but again she is ignored. Brooding over the loss of her son and her freedom, the last thing she wants to do is make small talk with Loras and he gets given the brush off when he tries to be nice to her. She gets a good idea of what Joffrey has become when he gleefully announces that he plans to serve Robb Stark's head to Sansa at his upcoming wedding, after word of the Red Wedding reaches Court. Cersei tries to brush it off as a joke and Joffrey makes it clear that he means it. Tywin clamps down and orders Cersei to escort Joffrey to his bed.
Cersei shares a moment of truth with her youngest brother when they talk about children. She tells him the most he can do for Sansa is to give her the children she can love, even if she cannot be happy as his wife. Tyrion asks if she is happy and Cersei admits that only her children stopped her from suicide, even Joffrey. Tyrion is tired and asks where all this is going to end and she trots out a line typical of Tywin...when their enemies are all dead. Tyrion tells her that all they are doing is creating new enemies.
The season finishes for Cersei with the shock return of Jaime to King's Landing but her joy to see him turns to horror when she realises that he has lost a hand. Not having Jaime to lean on has made it a very hard time for Cersei during his captivity and now she is going to find him changed in more ways than one.

I kinda hope she dies a horrible death in the final season. It would be excellent if her brothers killed her. :)
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Yes to that! I want to see one of them do it.
DeleteWell, I haven't read or watched (gasp) any of it, but AJ I can't help but laugh at your comment. Tell us what you really feel. LOL
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
I agree with AJ...this bitch needs to die!
Deleteoh lord... Cersei! she really have very few redeeming qualities. She reminds me of a boos I used to have. Totally ruthless.
ReplyDeleteShe reminds you of a what?
Deletehahah of a Boss I used to have! :D
DeleteCersei is such a powerful character, and so evil. I love to loathe her. LOL I'm with AJ on a good way for her to die. If a dragon eats it, it might get indigestion.
ReplyDeleteI don't suppose Tommen will come back as a wight and eat her...
DeleteCersei is awful lol but in a good way! I loved it when we finally got her POV in the books. Entertaining if nothing else.
ReplyDeleteI agree, she has been a brilliant character but her time is up! It was a lot of fun getting her POV in the wake of Tywin's death. It was one of the highlights of A Feast For Crows for me. I need to get the books reviewed and read the 2nd part of A Dance With Dragons-maybe next month.
