Stacking the Shelves #160

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! Click on the link under the book to find its page on Goodreads or Smashwords.

Please note that I always leave a message on your STS/SP if you visit me, but if you use DISQUS or a similar third party I will not be able to leave a comment on your page. I don't allow any company access to my social media accounts and I certainly don't allow them to edit and take over my accounts the way DISQUS does. So if you use DISQUS, I can't leave comments on your page so I can't really follow you back, sorry! I'm noticing that some blogs set with Google Plus are trying to force you to open a Google Plus or Facebook account before you can leave a comment. Well, I have no interest in rejoining Google Plus or joining Facebook so if your blog uses this set up, I won't be following it or commenting! And sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress-they try to block me so there might not be a message from me some weeks or you might get a double message sometimes! Blame them, not me!

Here we are, halfway through December and it's nearly time for Big Bash Cricket from Australia AND the World Championship Darts started last night! Yea! How good did Gary Anderson look in that first round eh? Looking for more great darts today. I've just about caught up on series 9 of Masterchef Professionals AND I'm very curious about a series called Missing in Alaska that sounds mind boggling! Anyone seen it? Ice gnomes, zombies, hairy men, bear god? I'm guessing it's a Finding Bigfoot kind of thing but I need to watch it if time allows! I love that kind of thing!

I haven't really bought any books in paperback other than the latest Game of Thrones one. Will we ever see the rest of the books in the series??? But 'thankfully' I have a backlog of nice downloads to talk about! I'll share them over the next few weeks and catch up a bit before a new book buying season starts! I could not resist that teddy bears cover and it does mean I have a festive book to read for once!

Finally I got a page in The Magical City book coloured! Yea! This page was more about getting an idea of the colours I have than any great attempt at artistic skill! Sorry about the poor light quality.

    1. The first Extinction Island book is like a horror b movie with characters you want to get eaten but great monster action. Hoping for the same in this one!

  2. Hi, Chuckles!

I have to admit, I giggled when I saw the teddy bears cover--I guess you can find pretty much ANYTHING in the book world, but I'd never thought to look for books about teddy bears outside of children's lit! Here's hoping it's as fun as it seems to be, when you get the chance to read it!

Thanks so much for sharing with us! Here's my Stacking the Shelves post, if you're interested in checking it out. No worries or pressure if you're not, though! Either way, I hope you enjoy your newest bookish acquisitions, and have a great rest of your weekend!

    1. There's something bad about the look on that Teddy Bear's face that made me have to get it-and it was free so why not! *giggles*

I haven't heard of any of the books you got, but they sound interesting. Happy reading!

    1. It's the first full page I've managed to do so far! Finding time to do more is going to be the problem when I feel I need to be reading!

  6. Yes, the teddy bear catches the eye ;-) What do you use to color? pencils? markers?

    1. I have sparkly gel pens, normal gel pens and a new set of colouring pencils to try. The sparkly gel pens are the ones I've tried so far and they are pretty good. Finding time to colour is going to be the problem!

      Bring on the teddy bears!

  7. That page you did looks great. I just bought some new fineliners this morning. I definitely have to check out that Teddy Bear book, what a cover! I'm also going to have to look into Missing in Alaska. Thanks for the info.

    1. That bear looks like a very bad bear! I'm hoping the other books in that series are free soon so I can try them all. Each one is written about a different holiday so there are ones for Thanksgiving and Halloween before this one came out. Yeah Missing in Alaska sounds fun doesn't it!

  8. Those are some interesting titles! I didn't know that one could watch darts on television (it's not a thing here in the U.S.), but each country has it's own unique sport. When I was a kid people used to watch bowling on TV. I hope you enjoy your books!

    1. Darts is very big in the UK. I don't usually have time to follow it through the year but I do make sure I watch it around Christmas!

  9. I hope you like your new books! I’m always impressed by people who can do those adult coloring books. I’m way too squirrely to sit still and color a picture.

    1. I find it hard too! I'm usually too busy reading to find time for much else!

  10. I love the Big Bash too! I used to watch the cricket but as I've gotten older and Australia have become tools, I've gone off it. I'm really excited about the women's Big Bash though.

The hubby and I love Finding Bigfoot. We were flicking the channels one night and seen it on Discovery I think it was. It's hilariously entertaining. There's another one too with a bunch of Hillbillies that search for mountain monsters too. What I've always wondered, is why when they've made progress and seen and heard what could be these Bigfoots, they only stay for a few days and then move on?

    1. I love cricket especially The Ashes and 20-20. I'm looking forward to it starting this year! I don't support any team so I like seeing good close matches.

I've recorded Finding Bigfoot from the TV but haven't watched it yet. I love films and books and TV about Bigfoot and other urban legends so I'm intrigued by Missing in Alaska! I think I recorded that other series you talked about but I can't remember the name of it. I hope to watch these things through the winter! I'm fascinated by Boggy Creek in particular. I'd love to join an expedition or two!

  11. Enjoy your new books! And great job on the coloring - I have a bunch of coloring books that I'd like to get to as well this holiday break. I think you chose a very pretty combination of colors!

    1. This year I grabbed about 15 colouring books and those pictures are all I've done so far! Those sparkly colours look great but are hard to photograph. I'll be trying out other pen and pencil sets hopefully over the winter.

  12. I am seriously start to wonder if we are going to get the next book- and if we do, will we get the following one? That seems very doubtful. At least we'll get SOME closure from the show. Although I really did want to read the end before seeing it- sadly that will not be happening!

I do like that cover of a Dance with Dragons! Nice. Better than the one I have. And Extinction Island 2 lol. Looks awesome!

    1. I'm a bit concerned about that too. I keep thinking about that post you wrote about big authors getting away with ignoring deadlines. I really think he's taking the piss a bit now and needs to get it done! It's a nice set of covers I've got...will I get a complete set like that though? Doubt it!

  13. Teddy Bears and Christmas Pirates sounds like a lot of fun, Chuckles! And that TV show set in Alaska intrigues me. I may have to look into that, too.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  17. I hope you'll enjoy that Missing in Alaska series, sounds like it's the type of series you enjoy. We're currently watching star gate, I am enjoying it so far. That teddy Bears cover does look great! I hope it's a fun one. I like your first colored page! It looks great! I haven't colored in a while. Have a great week!

  18. Okay, I'm confused, what is Dancing With Dragons part 2? I just started watching Game of Thrones this past fall, and almost done with season 5. I have a coloring book I had to have when it came out, but I haven't had time to color it yet. Hope you have a great week! Thanks for visiting my Sunday Post at Lisa Loves Literature earlier!

    1. A Dance with Dragons is GoT book 5 and has over 1000 pages like a couple of other books in the series. So the books were also released with the bigger books split into two parts of about 500 pages. After the Feast is the second part of book 5.
